FOREST CITY — HOO’S. HOO’S. HOO’S. Ready for some baseball!
As the College Baseball season nears its end, Forest City Owls baseball is not far behind.
After a long 22 month wait, The Owls open play on Thursday May 27 at home against Asheboro and then play two nights later at home on Saturday, May 29, against Martinsville, in the first of five scheduled fireworks nights.
Many of the Owls players will be participating in their league tournaments this weekend and next as they have had great seasons.
Will Butcher, of UNC-Charlotte, has had a big bat all season including two home runs in their upset over highly ranked Tennessee. Will is currently hitting .321 with over 30 RBI’s.
Kirby Connell, Tennessee’s closer, has provided quality shutdown innings versus Southeastern Conference foes, Vanderbilt, Florida, LSU and Georgia. Kirby is averaging under one hit or walk per inning. Brennan Rozell of Long Beach State, has made a catch worthy of ESPN Sportscenter play of the day to save a ballgame and both Luke Drumheller and Forest City’s own Kendall McGowan are leading Appalachian State in home runs and RBI’s.
All of these players plus 32 more will be on the Owls roster for 2021.
Season tickets and individual game tickets, as well as the entire 2021 schedule are online at www.forest city baseball.com and at the Owls ticket office at 138 E. Main St. Forest City.
