FOREST CITY — Two Fridays ago, R-S Central quarterback Jaiden Coston put together a masterful game in a 41-0 win over Patton. Despite just playing 2 1/2 quarters, Coston finished with 120 rushing yards and four rushing touchdowns. He also added two interceptions, one of which he returned for a pick-six. That performance earned him the Smith’s Drugs Player of the Week award.

“Jaiden is a competitor,” said R-S Central head coach John Faircloth. “He wants the ball in his hands in crucial situations. It’s hard to teach somebody to do that. It’s not a gift you’re born with. It’s not something that is developed over night. He definitely makes everything go a lot smoother when he is the trigger man.”

Jaiden credited his teammates for helping him have the big performance.

“They really encouraged me and motivated me before the game,” he said.

For the senior, next Friday’s game against CHASE will be the final game of his high school football career. When asked what he would miss the most, Jaiden was quick to say his teammates.

“I am going to miss that bond that I have with my teammates,” he said. “We will all go our own way soon, but we will have that bond forever.”

Jaiden is a multi-sport athlete. Beginning next month, he and the Hilltoppers will begin their basketball season. The Hilltoppers have high expectations for themselves and Jaiden is excited to see how the season unfolds.

“I’m excited to see what we can do,” he said. “We have a lot of size this year.”

Jaiden’s favorite cereal is Cap’n Crunch, he prefers Madden over 2K and his favorite color is green.
