Harry F. Black, age 87 of Forest City, North Carolina died Sunday, September 12, 2021.
Born November 12, 1933, in Buncombe County, North Carolina he was the son of the late Fate Black and Rubye Glance Black.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Phillis S. Black, and a son, Kevin F. “Bubba” Black.
Harry proudly served in the US Army during the Korean War and completed a tour of duty in Korea.
He was a faithful member of Sulphur Springs Baptist Church where he had served as a Deacon, and on several committees in the church. He worked for APC/Robbins Oil as a Diesel Mechanic.
Harry was ready to help neighbors and church family with any problems and would study on the problem until he came up with a solution. He and Kevin loved to work together on making smokers out of barrels and the last project they worked on together was a rail car.
Surviving are his daughter and son-in-law Beverly Black & Greg Mode, daughter-in-law Tami Black of Forest City, brother Doug Black and wife Irene of Brevard, sister, Ivagene Parham and husband Kenneth of Asheville, granddaughter Dana Cortor and husband Mark of Forest City, four great-grandchildren, Ona Robertson, Trinity Robertson, Andrew Cortor and Savannah Cortor.
Graveside services will be held 11 A.M. Friday, September 17, 2021 at Eternal Hills Memorial Park.
Military Honors will be provided by The Rutherford County Veterans Honor Guard.
The family will receive friends from 5 -7 PM Thursday, September 16, 2021 at Crowe’s Mortuary.
