MOORESBORO — A 49-year-old man was killed Thursday afternoon in a single-vehicle crash off N.C. Highway 120, according to the N.C. Highway Patrol.

Danny Andrew Bull died in the 1:43 p.m. crash near Six Points. The crash also critically injured a woman passenger, who has yet to be identified. She was airlifted to Spartanburg Medical Center with life-threatening injuries, trooper J.K. Henderson said Friday morning.

Reckless driving and excessive speed contributed to the wreck, Henderson added.

Bull was driving north in a 2000 Ford Explorer along N.C. 120 when he veered off the road and struck a mailbox, then overcorrected before driving off the roadway and slamming into a tree on the driver’s side, Henderson said.

Bull’s driver’s license shows a Gastonia address, but the owner of the SUV told the trooper that the victim had been staying with him in Shelby, Henderson said.
