Take a shot today

SPINDALE — Those wishing to get a COVID-19 vaccine can do so today (Wednesday) at Harvest House Baptist Church from 5-7 p.m.

Harvest House Baptist, in partnership with the United Way, is hosting the free vaccine clinic at the church, located at 2938 Harris-Henrietta Road, Mooresboro. Spindale Drug will be administering the Moderna vaccine. The hours of this clinic are more friendly for those who can’t or don’t want to miss work during the day. It also comes after Monday’s scheduled clinic was canceled due to the threat of severe weather.

As of Tuesday, there were eight new coronavirus cases in Rutherford County, bringing the cumulative total to 7,251. According to the N.C. Department of Health and Human Services, the county’s 24-day positivity rate remains at 6.2%

Rutherford’s death toll from the virus remains at 206.

Tuesday’s partial vaccination total, or the first of two shots, include 18,590 residents, or 27.7% of the county’s population. Full vaccinations account for 15,963 residents, or 23.8%.
