Chimney Rock State Park has new superintendent
Chimney Rock State Park has a new superintendent.
James Ledgerwood has accepted the position at CRSP, Sean McElhone, West District Superintendent for the North Carolina State Parks system, announced Monday.
Ledgerwood has a Bachelor's Degree in Forestry and Wildland Recreation from the University of Tennessee and has been employed with the Division since 2002. He has worked at Jordan Lake, Gorges and Chimney Rock state parks.
He has served in the acting Park Superintendent role at CRSP for the last four months and previously for an additional three month period, said McElhone.
"He has demonstrated his ability to serve in this new leadership role. He is well versed in the complex operation of the park, and with the significant capital improvement projects planned for the park," McElhone said in a statement.
"James has established a terrific working relationship with the staff of Chimney Rock Park LLC and the park’s other local partners. These skills and partnerships will serve James well as he directs the future development."
