Chase women fall to Patriots
The Chase Lady Trojans scored the first five points of their game against Freedom, but struggle on the offensive end the rest of the night as they fell to the Lady Patriots 85-25.
“It started off really well”, said Chase head coach Todd Davis. “Then things just fell apart really fast. We just have to come back and work hard at the next practice.”
Chase (3-13) got off to a hot stat as Kaitlyn Smart garnered a layup and Kendra Holcombe hit a deep three. Freedom responded with an 11-0 run capped on a Courtney Tate thee point play.
The Lady Trojans broke that steak when Smart hit a runner in the lane. Haley Wood followed with a baseline jumper, but Freedom finished the quarter on an 8-0 run and a 19-9 lead.
The Lady Patriots run continued into the second quarter thanks to a full court press. After several easy, the lead had expanded to 28-9. Holcombe and Smart combined to score the next six points to cut the deficit to 13, but Chase just could not find other scoring option as they trailed 41-17 at the half.
The turnover bug bit Chase once again in the third quarter as they had a hard time crossing half court against the Lady Patriot press. As a result, the Lady Trojans were held without a field goal for the entire quarter and trailed 63-18.
The fourth quarter was more of the same though Chase did manage a flurry of late points against the Freedom bench to account for the final score. Holcombe led Chase with 11 points.
