228 students graduating at Isothermal tonight
A total of 228 students will participate in the 2013 Adult High School / General Education Development (GED) graduation program tonight at Isothermal Community College.
Commencement exercises begin at 7 p.m. in the Frank and Mabel West Auditorium at the Foundation.
The welcome will be given by Thad Harrill, vice president of community and workforce education and institutional advancement, followed by the introduction of the speaker by Walter Dalton, president of the college.
The commencement address will be given by Dr. Kim Gold, vice president of academic and student services and institutional knowledge.
Gold began her career with ICC as a business sciences instructor. She holds a BS in business administration from UNC-Chapel Hill, a MBA from Western Carolina University and a Doctorate in educational leadership from Appalachian University.
Gold co-authored the application and implementation plan that created the Rutherford Early College High School (REaCH) at ICC.
Awarding of diplomas will be done by Donna Hood, dean of continuing education. Adult High School diplomas will be presented to 60 graduates and 168 will receive their GEDs.
