NC zoo to reopen after 6 days after winter storm
The North Carolina Zoo is reopening after last week's snowstorm kept the park closed for six days.
The zoo opened its gates at 9 a.m. Tuesday. Officials said while roads leading to the park in Asheboro have been opened for several days, it took longer to clear and melt the ice and snow from the zoo's more than 5 miles of walkways.
The area around Asheboro saw about 6 inches of snow and sleet from the storm Wednesday.
The zoo had to close for four days in late January for another winter storm.
