Miss Ashley Nichole Stanland and Mr. Tyler James Chatham, of Rutherfordton, were united in marriage on Saturday, September 8, 2012, in a lovely outdoor wedding ceremony held at the home of the groom’s grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Boyce Chatham of Rutherfordton. The Reverend Richard Hayden of Ellenboro was the officiating minister. Guitarist and solo vocalist Mr. Aaron Chatham, brother of the groom, provided music for the four o’clock service.
The bride, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Michael and Kristi Maher of Lake Wales, Florida and Lake Lure, was escorted and presented in marriage by her father. The couple exchanged vows in a traditional double ring ceremony. The bride wore an elegant one-shoulder designed gown embellished with refined rosette flowers on the shoulder, featuring a delicately pleated bodice, an empire waist with a pleated sash, and a gently gathered skirt falling to a full length handkerchief hemline. The bridal bouquet of white roses, white miniature calla lilies, and lily of the valley was accented with miniature lavender roses and circlets of lily grass, hand tied with purple and white ribbons, and accented with pearls.
Mrs. Ashley Chatham Koch, sister of the groom attended the bride as Matron of Honor. Bridesmaids were Miss Emily Stanland, sister of the bride, and Miss Sharis Smith. Their modern one-shoulder design dresses of royal purple high-sheen satin were styled with a wrapped and pleated bodice and waistline folds with a rosette on the shoulder. They carried hand tied bouquets of white roses and deep purple double roses.
The groom, son of Mr. and Mrs. Michael and Mardecia Chatham of Rutherfordton, chose his father as his best man. Groomsmen were Mr. Aaron Chatham of Rutherfordton, brother of the groom, and Mr. Aaron Koch of Shelby, brother-in-law of the groom. Ushers were Bryson Stanland and Cody Stanland, brothers of the bride. Also attending the couple was Ms. Amy Mayo of Charleston, South Carolina, who served as the ceremony photographer. The wedding was coordinated by Mrs. Ashley Koch of Broad River Photography, who also served as the portrait photographer.
Immediately following the ceremony, the couple was honored with a reception held at Piedmont Baptist Church. The classic tiered white wedding cake was adorned with royal purple and lavender orchids, and decorated with royal purple satin ribbons around each layer. The reception included a fresh fruit pyramid, chocolate fountain, and traditional party foods.
The couple was honored with several parties to celebrate their wedding, including a July 8th engagement party and shower to welcome the bride-elect, hosted by the groom’s mother, Mrs. Mardecia Chatham; the groom’s grandmother, Mrs. Barbara Chatham; and the groom’s sister Mrs. Ashley Chatham Koch, held at the Piedmont Baptist Church Fellowship Center. On Friday, September 7th, parents of the groom Mr. and Mrs. Michael Chatham hosted an after-rehearsal dinner honoring the couple and the wedding party.
