McCrory: I've talked with NC capitol protesters
Gov. Pat McCrory says he has often entered the crowds protesting at the North Carolina capital against decisions he and other Republican leaders advocate, and gotten cussed out in the process.
The Wilson Times reports that McCrory said in an interview that he goes "out in the crowd all of the time." The GOP governor says he talked to demonstrators earlier this week and they responded by "cussing me out."
McCrory said last month he had no desire to meet with protesters. There have been no previous reports of the governor engaging with demonstrators. A McCrory spokeswoman did not respond to requests for comment Thursday.
Near-weekly demonstrations opposing Republican legislative priorities have gone on in Raleigh for nearly three months and led to more than 700 arrests.
