Democratic incumbent Hagan filing for Senate in NC
U.S. Sen. Kay Hagan is officially filing to run for a second six-year term.
The Greensboro Democrat planned to turn in her candidacy papers Monday at the State Board of Elections in Raleigh. She's been preparing for a re-election bid for some time and has several million dollars in her campaign fund.
Four Republicans already have officially entered the GOP primary race and at least two more are expected before Friday's filing deadline.
Hagan has portrayed herself in her first five years in office as a moderate who is willing to work with Republicans. North Carolina GOP candidates say she's gone along with President Obama's policies, including her votes for the health care overhaul.
