NC black caucus members want more answers from HHS
North Carolina Legislative Black Caucus members say they're becoming more frustrated with what they consider serious management problems at the Department of Health and Human Services.
House and Senate members from the caucus scheduled five news conferences across the Piedmont on Friday. They say they want Gov. Pat McCrory to take immediate steps to address issues within the agency.
The department and its secretary, Dr. Aldona Wos (vahsh), have been under pressure in recent months for troubles with two computer programs — one a Medicaid billing system and the other that determines who qualifies for government services such as food stamps. A recent error meant Medicaid cards for some children were mailed to the wrong addresses.
Some legislators want to Wos to resign, but McCrory is standing by her.
