Rachael Camp posted a double-double of 27 points and 15 rebounds to lead the East Rutherford Lady Cavaliers in a dominating 69-33 win over Hunter Huss Tuesday.

“We are playing really well right now,” said coach Larry Ross. “Rachel is scoring a lot of points but the whole is playing well.”

Shay Dewberry opened the scoring for the Lady Cavs (4-0) with an old fashiond three point play, but it was Rachel Camp that dominated the early stages of the contest. The junior scored six straight points as part of 13-1 East run. As a result the home team led 16-4 midway through the opening quarter. Huss broke the run with a Jalaah Crosby three pointer. But Camp and Emily Dotson answered with three pointers of their own as East led 22-9 at the end of the first quarter.

The Lady Cavaliers dominated the second quarter as well. They opened the quarter on a 14-0 run. Camp scored seven points in the spurt and she found open teammates as well. Justina Greene was the beneficiary of a pair of nice passes while Casasandra Allen connected from beyond the arc.

On the other end of the floor, the East defense held Hunter to Huss to a single field goal in the quarter as the Lady Cavs led 38-13 at the break.

Crosby hit a three for Huss to begin the second quarter, but East responded when Camp stripped the ball in the open floor and cruised in for the easy score.

Dewberry followed suit with another steal and easy basket. The pace of the game then slowed considerably as East only outscored Hunter Huss 8-7 in the quarter

The fourth quarter belonged to Dotson. The junior scored 10 points in quick succession on a pair of three pointers a layup and a pair of foul shots. That was more than enogh as The lady Cavs cruised to the 69-33 win.

In addition to Camp’s 27 points, Dewberry poured in 19 while Dotson garnered 14.

Kayla Crabtree led the Huss attack with 13 points.
