Lady Hilltoppers upend East Burke

CONNELLYS SPRINGS — R-S Central softball hit the road Wednesday and took care of business coming home with an 8-4 victory over East Burke.

Makayla Crain picked up the win on the mound for R-S Central pitching a complete game and allowing just one earned run and striking out seven.

Taylor Koon led the Hilltoppers at the plate with two hits and three RBIs while Katie McEntire and Crain each had two hits apiece. Makayla Crawford added a two-run home run.

The Lady Hilltoppers (5-3, 4-2 SMAC) have Thursday off before hosting East Rutherford on Friday at 4:30 p.m.

Lady Cavaliers blank Crest

FOREST CITY — East Rutherford senior Savannah Davis had another electric day in the circle on Monday striking out 15 batters and shutting out Crest in a 7-0 win for the Lady Cavaliers.

Emily Dotson and Courtney Smith each had two hits for East in the win.

The Lady Cavs (7-2, 4-1 SMAC) hit the road Friday for a showdown with R-S Central scheduled for 4:30 p.m.

R-S Middle stays perfect

RUTHERFORDTON — The R-S Middle Knights remain undefeated after a walk-off win over previously unbeaten Crest on Wednesday, 6-4.

R-S Middle entered the seventh inning trailing 5-4 when Wesley Smith delivered the game-winning hit, a single to score two runs and move the Knights to 7-0 on the season.

Cameron Snethen struck out nine batters in seven innings of work.

The Knights also downed Chase on Monday, 11-1, in just five innings.

Marty Barrella earned the win on the bump for the Knights pitching a complete five innings striking out four Chase batters.

Snethen provided the pop for the Nights in the win with a two-run home run.

The Knights have the rest of the week off before traveling to Shelby Middle on Monday.
