East Rutherford trounces Burns, 89-28

LAWNDALE — East Rutherford basketball (16-4 8-1 SMAC) made a statement Tuesday night on the road with an 89-28 win over the Burns Bulldogs (2-15, 0-9 SMAC).

The Cavs held a 41-15 lead at the half before they unleashed their bench that ended up with a combined 34 points on the night.

It was complete team effort tonight,” said East assistant Steven Jones after the win. “It was jsut a really well-played basketball game.”

Travis Waldroup-Rodriguez led the charge for East with 21 points while Jarvis Hopper added 12 and DeVonte Boykins chipped in 10.

East returns to action Friday night when they welcome the Freedom Patriots (16-3, 7-2 SMAC) to Forest City for a clash of SMAC powers. Tipoff is set for 7:30 p.m.
