Four Gryphons qualify for state track meet

The Thomas Jefferson men's and women's track team competed in the 1A West Regional meet this past Saturday in Cherokee, N.C. At the end of the day, four members from the teams qualified for the State 1A track meet this Friday at North Carolina A&T University.

The Lady Gryphon's were led by Malarie Hariss' fourth-place finish in the 1600-meter run that was good enough to land her a spot in the state meet.

Aman Braggs finished fifth in the 100-meter run and seventh in the 200-meter run while the 4x400-meter relay team finished eighth.

Ben Sayles led the men's side with a second-place finish in the Triple Jump while Mason Fenner finished fourth in the High Jump and Joseph Thelen snagged third in the 300-meter Hurdles, all good enough for spots in the state meet.

Joseph Papte also had a strong showing with a fifth-place finish in the 300-meter Hurdles and the 4x400-meter relay team had an eighth-place finish.
