Ansoni Jimenez, Chase soccer

Chase goalkeeper Ansoni Jimenez is the lone senior captain on a young, surging Trojans team (15-2-1, 15-1 SMAC).

The Chase defense has allowed just eight goals in 2013 as they await its first-round opponent and certain home game set for Wednesday, Oct. 30.

Last Wednesday against Shelby, Jimenez and the Trojans shut out Shelby in a match to decode the 2013 SMAC Champions.

Jimenez's presence in the net and strong leg kept the Golden Lions out of the net and the Trojans on the attack.

Stephen Maimone, Thomas Jefferson soccer

Thomas Jeffeson took the Southern Piedmont Conference by storm in its first year by claiming the conference title with a win over Cherryville last Wednesday.

Senior goalkeeper Stephen Maimone allowed just 10 goals in 17 games as a team captain including 10 shutouts.

However, Maimone's biggest might may have been a night he allowed a gaol as the Gryphons defeated Community School of Davidson, 2-1, last Monday to position themselves to be the outright SPC champs.

The Gryphons now await their first-round opponent for the state playoffs.
