The Chase Trojans (1-12, 0-5 SMAC) were looking to snap their 12-game losing streak on the final day of the East Rutherford Easter Tournament, but Mother Nature had other plans.

All of Thursday’s action has been pushed back until today, but due to prior commitments,  Chase’s opponent, the Gaston Christian Eagles, have withdrawn from the tournament. As a result, tournament officials have awarded the Trojans a seventh place finish. The game will not be reflected in either team’s overall record, however.

“We were looking forward to playing today (Thursday),” said Chase coach Matt Tipton. “We played so well against a very talented R-S Central team. I wanted those feelings to carry over. But in a way, I think the rain will help the team instead of hurt them. It will give us a few days of extra rest which everybody needs, especially our pitchers, to get ready for East on Tuesday.”

The Easter Tournament is set to resume today at noon with R-S Central battling Watauga for fifth place while Chase is off until Tuesday when the host the Cavaliers. First pitch for that contest is set for 7 p.m.

Today's Easter Tournament schedule:

Fifth-place Game: 12 p.m. Watauga vs. R-S Central

Third-place Game: 2 p.m. South Caldwell vs. E. Rutherford JV

Championship Game.: 4 p.m. E. Rutherford Varsity vs. Alexander Central
