R-S Central wrestling falls at Mitchell
The R-S Central High School wrestling team dropped a 70-12 dual decision at Mitchell.
The Hilltoppers did pick up a pair of wins in the varsity dual.
Kaleb Hines pinned Mitchell's Thomas Parker at the 220-pound class in 49 seconds and Hunter Edwards earned a pin over Mitchell's Devlin White 10 seconds into the match at 285 pounds.
R-S Central will be in action on Saturday with a wrestling tournament at Chase High School. Start time of the tournament is to be announced.

GWU women ranked nationally in defense
BOILING SPRINGS — The Gardner-Webb women’s basketball team will open up the 2013 calendar year on a high note, as the Runnin’ Bulldogs continued to climb up the national rankings in a number of NCAA defensive statistical categories as the month of December wound down.
Through games going through Dec. 30, head coach Rick Reeves has his squad ranked 10th overall in the nation in field goal percentage defense, as the Runnin’ Bulldogs are holding its opponents to a 31.9 shooting percentage on the season.
GWU is also ranked 40th in the nation in both scoring defense, allowing only 53.8 points per game, and in blocked shots per game with 4.8 per contest.
On top of those numbers, Gardner-Webb is 21st overall in three-point field goal percentage, as its opponents are shooting only 36.4 percent from behind the arc on the season, and is ranked 43rd in the nation in rebound margin by averaging 7.3 more rebounds per contest than its foes.
