Here’s to another good week

There’s nothing better than a 7-2 week when you are picking football games.

Granted, 8-1 or 9-0 would have been great but I’ll take 7-2.

Georgia and Arizona spoiled a perfect weekend however, in all honesty, those games were tough to pick.

That being said, prep picks were winners last week thanks to Chase and Thomas Jefferson getting past their opponents.

Now, despite a partial government shutdown (of which I am not affected but more humored by), here is a look at this week:

CHASE AT CREST: Chase pulled off a great homecoming win last week against Draughn but Crest isn’t Draughn. Ask R-S Central about that. Crest struggled against the Hilltoppers but they are back home against the Trojans. I’m not sure if there will be a big struggle here. Crest by 10.

EAST RUTHERFORD AT BURNS: The Cavaliers had two weeks to prepare for this road test since having a bye last week. While East’s offense continues to score the defense continues to struggle and that will be problematic. Burns by 14.

THOMAS JEFFERSON AT HIGHLAND TECH: According to the notes, Highland Tech has scored just 19 points in their first games of the season. The Gryphons, on the other hand, have scored in the triple-digits. Look for the Gryphons to feast on the road. TJCA by 21.

CLEMSON AT SYRACUSE: It will be an interesting road trip to New York for the Tigers. After beating Tulane 52-17 last week, the Orange are at .500. Clemson, on the other hand will put their potent offense on the field against a stagnant Syracuse defense. Clemson by 17.

NORTH CAROLINA STATE AT WAKE FOREST: N.C. State struggled against Richmond (FCS) and came close against Clemson but came up big last week against Central Michigan. Wake Forest, on the other hand, was housed by Clemson and barely came out of West Point with a win. N.C. State by 10.

KENTUCKY AT SOUTH CAROLINA: Just when you thought Kentucky might be good, a stretch of four ranked teams in consecutive weeks shows just how “not good” they really are. Look for the Gamecocks to come out and score early and often. South Carolina by 21.

KANSAS CITY AT TENNESSEE: The Chiefs aren’t flashy but they are undefeated. With quarterback Jake Locker still nursing after a concussion, this could be a perfect opportunity for Kansas City to show the league just how good they can be. Kansas City by 10.

CAROLINA AT ARIZONA: Cam Newton has looked good but Carson Palmer has been better. The test here will be for the Carolina defense to contain Larry Fitzgerald. I would like to see the Panthers win, but it’s on the road so I am not sold. Arizona by 10.

NEW YORK JETS AT ATLANTA: Matt Ryan is a good quarterback and I don’t care what the record shows. They are a dropped pass away from being .500 on the season. Look for them to inch closer on Monday night. Atlanta by 14.
