The Forest City Owls may have finished the year with their worst record in team history at 17-32, but late-season addition Chris Orphanos lessened the blow earning the Rawlings Pitcher of the Week award as awarded by the Coastal Plain League.

Orphanos pitched 1213 innings last week and struck out 21 batters, 15 of which came July 30 at Florence in a complete game shutout win for Forest City, one shy of the CPL record for strikeouts in a single game.

Orphanos, a junior right-hander at Mount Olive College, added six more strikeouts in 313 inning of relief duty against Asheboro just three days later.

After joining the Owls towards the tail-end of the season, Orphanos finished the season 2-0 boasting a 1.35 ERA and striking out 35 batters in just 2623 innings.
