Tufo leaving Owls for promotion

Former Forest City Owls skipper David Tufo will not return in 2014. Tufo recently accepted a new position at Santa Clara University, and his increased workload and new role will not permit him the opportunity to coach in Forest City for the upcoming season.

"First off, I want to thank everyone in Forest City for the amazing opportunity this summer,” said Tufo. “The organization and the community are first class and made me feel like part of the family. As for this coming year, I am sad to announce that I will not be returning to the Owls. I have accepted a position at Santa Clara University as the Director of Baseball Operations and my commitments and responsibilities will require for me to remain there year-round. I want to thank the organization, boosters, community and city for all their hard work and dedication to the development of these young men. Thank you again for the opportunity and I look forward to many more successful years of Owls' baseball."

“We would like to thank Coach (David) Tufo for his time here and wish him nothing but the best with his new opportunity. He worked extremely hard last season and I can’t say enough good things about David and his time here,” added Owls General Manager Jeremy Boler. “We wish nothing but the best for Coach Tufo and his family in the future.”

The Owls will conduct a national search to find the best coaching candidate to lead the Owls in 2014.
