A capacity crowd and the Forest City Owls were ready to celebrate the 4th of July but Mother Nature had other plans as heavy rains suspended the contest with the Owls leading 2-0.

After Tomas Konrad made quick work of the Mustangs lineup in the first, the Owls offense went right to work in the bottom half. Jake Rowland led off with a double . The game was delayed for 11 minutes to squeegee the field before Nick McQuail singled.

After Derrick Pitts struck out, All-Stars Ty Barkell and Matt Naldoski delivered back to back RBIs to make the tally 2-0.

Martinsville put their first two runners on in the top of the second before the skies opened up and the game was suspended.

The game will be completed July 25, the next time Martinsville visits McNair Field.
