Cavaliers throttle Patton

East Rutherford (14-4, 7-1 SMAC) picked up another conference win Tuesday night with an 81-40 win over the Patton Panthers.

After building a 48-24 lead at the half, East head coach Brad Levine emptied his bench for the second half and had all but one Cavalier score for the night.

“We played real good basketball tonight,” Levine said. “I hope we can carry it over a little bit.”

Travis Waldroup-Rodriguez led the team with 20 points while Jarvis Hopper added 17 to go along with 10 rebounds. Devonte Boykins also reached double-digit scoring numbers with 10 points.

East returns to action at home Friday night as they host Veritas Christian.

They have 5-6 kids that can really play good basketball,” Levine said of Veritas. “They can’t do anything fantastic but they just play very hard.”

Tipoff is set for 7:30 p.m. at East Rutherford.
