After getting doubled-up by Freedom in the first quarter, the East Rutherford Cavaliers kicked it into high gear and throttled the Patriots 69-55 Friday night in SMAC action on the road.

East was out scored 18-9 in the first quarter but won the second quarter 28-9 and the third quarter 20-8 to separate themselves in the win.

"We played a little conservative early but we turned it up a notch in the second quarter," said head coach Brad Levine. "It was just a great overall team effort."

Travis Waldroup-Rodriguez led the attack with 21 points while Devonte Boykins recorded a double-double with 12 points and 10 boards. Donald Wilkins, Jarvis Hopper and Roddric Ross all had nine points apeice.

East returns to the court Friday, Jan. 18 when they host SMAC rival Shelby. Tipoff is set for 7:30 p.m.

Shelby is coming off of two blowout wins against Chase and R-S Central.

"I'm glad Shelby's as-advertised because East Rutherford is too," said Levine. "You just get your ticket and come watch because it'll be a good game."
