With freezing rain moving into the Greensboro area around 5 p.m. Thursday evening, the North Carolina Athletic Association (NCHSAA) decided to postpone the 2A Western Region semifinal contest between East Rutherford and North Rowan. The game will be played Friday night at 5:30 p.m. at UNC-Greensboro's Fleming Gymnasium.

The final decision was made before the start of the the night's first semifinal between Hunter Huss and Smokey Mountain.

"Shy of putting on blue uniforms when you're supposed to be wearing white and red, this is about the crazy thing that's ever happened to us," East Rutherford head coach Brad LeVine said referencing the uniform debacle at this season's Dorman Classic. "But it doesn't rain, sleet or snow unless God wants it to."

The NCHSAA made reservations for East Rutherford to stay in an area hotel Thursday night.

"Thank goodness we brought practice uniforms because that's what they're going to be wearing to bed," LeVine said.

If East Rutherford wins on Friday, it will play Saturday at 4 p.m.for the Western Region championship.

"There's not a thing we can do about it so we'll just have to show up and play," LeVine said.
