Rachel Camp named All-State

More honors are pouring in for area basketball players. This time, East Rutherford senior Rachel Camp was named First Team All-State by the North Carolina Basketball Coaches Association (NCBCA) to add to her list of postseason awards that include All-County, All-Conference, SMAC Girls' Player of the Year and District 10 Girl's Player of the Year.

Fellow East Rutherford senior Devonte Boykins was named to the boy's second team by the NCBCA.

Camp, a Virginia Tech commit, is joined on the girls' first team by fellow 3,000-point scorer and North Carolina commit Jamie Cherry (Player of the Year) of West Craven, Vanderbilt signee Paris Kea of Page High, McDonald's All-American Azura Stevens of Cary High and North Carolina commit Stephanie Watts from Weddington.

Boykins, a Georgia Southern signee, adds the second-team honor to all-county, all-conference and first-team all-district recognitions.

Kinston's Brandon Ingram was name State Player of the Year while Shelby's Gabe DeVoe also garnered first-team recognition.
