Drew Reynolds garners All-Academic honors

East Carolina junior and former East Rutherford Cavalier Drew Reynolds was named to the 2013 Conference USA All-Academic Team for the second-straight year, as selected by the league's baseball sports information directors. In order to be eligible for the recognition, student-athletes must hold a 3.2 cumulative grade point average, be of at least sophomore academic standing and be a starter or key reserve for their team.

Reynolds, the Pirates designated hitter and closer, is a three-time C-USA Commissioner's Honor Roll member (2011-13), a 2011 C-USA Commissioner's Academic Medal Winner and a six-time ECU Director of Athletics Honor Roll recipient. He holds a 3.43 cumulative GPA as a physical education major.

A native of Cherryville, N.C., Reynolds is batting a team-best .313 (62-for-198) with 12 doubles, 21 RBI and 28 runs scored. On the mound he owns a 3-2 record with a 2.79 ERA and a C-USA best 13 saves, which also ranks among the top 20 nationally.

The Pirates (30-24) are in Houston, Texas for the 2013 Conference USA Championships, which will be played at Reckling Park. As the three seed, ECU will square off with No. 6 seed Houston (35-20) on Thursday, May 23 at 12 noon (ET), before playing No. 7 seed Tulane (28-27) on Friday at 12 noon (ET) and No. 2 Southern Miss (28-25) Saturday at 8 p.m. (ET). ECU will not play on Wednesday, as that is its designated day off.
