Cavaliers wrestling bows to Freedom

East Rutherford wrestling had another strong showing Wednesday night as they hosted the Patriots of Freedom, but they just couldn't overcome three costly forfeits in a 53-22 loss.

"They all wrestled really good matches," said head coach Tim Bird. "We won a lot of matches on the mat, but it is very difficult to overcome having so many empty weight classes."

East got individual wins from Chase Lovelace, Cody Hall, Nathan Daisley, Colten Costa and Jake Melton.

"I'm really proud of the way our guys stepped up and wrestled hard tonight," Bird said. "I think we really performed well for our first home match."

East returns to action Friday, Jan. 18 when they travel to take on the Shelby Golden Lions.
