GWU volleyball picked eighth
Gardner-Webb is tabbed to finish eighth in the race for the 2014 Big South Conference regular season championship, announced league officials Tuesday with the release of the Big South Conference Volleyball preseason coaches' poll.

The Runnin' Bulldogs were voted ahead of both Presbyterian and Charleston Southern, who finished ninth and 10th, respectively, with totals of 32 and 15 points.
Radford University was chosen first in the Big South's annual preseason poll, and senior outside hitter Rachel Wiechecki was selected as the Preseason Player of the Year, which is also voted on by the league's head coaches.
The Highlanders received six first-place votes and 93 total points after capturing the Big South championship last season. Coastal Carolina, last season's tournament runner-up, was second with two first-place votes and a total of 90 points.
Liberty earned 82 points and the remaining two first-place votes to claim the third spot, while High Point finished fourth with 75 points. Winthrop was fifth with 55 points.
