Moore signs LOI with Mars Hill
Despite standing just 5-foot-9 and weighing 152 pounds, East Rutherford offensive lineman Cameron Moore is living out his dream and playing college football. Moore signed his letter of intent on Wednesday to become a member of the Mars Hill University Mountain Lions, a Division II member of the South Atlantic Conference .
Moore has been a key piece in the Cavalier offensive line during his time in red and black, now it's time for him to find his fit in Mars Hill blue and gold.
"I went to the practices and met the coaches. It just felt like a big family up there," Moore said. " I did really good at the tryout so I felt like I belonged and I needed to go there."
Moore will make the move to Mars Hill in the fall, but it won't likely won't seem much different considering the school's enrollment falls just short of 1,400. The town of Mars Hill itself has a population of under 2,000.
"Small towns are the best towns," Moore said. "Everybody is a family which is better than everybody being spread out and not knowing anybody."
According to Moore, he's likely to become the Mountain Lions' long snapper in his first year and could see time on kickoff coverage units. But to endure the college football grind, Moore might have to pack on some pounds.
"I'm going to be a college athlete so I'm going to have to beef up a little bit," Moore said.
At the signing, the room was abuzz with proud family members and coaches, but none were more excited than Moore.
"It's been hectic just getting to today," Moore said. "I'm just ready to be here and ready to play."
