Jackie Bennett
FOREST CITY — Jackie Mae Smith Bennett, age 68, died Tuesday, September 10, 2013.     A graveside service will be conducted at 3 p.m. on Friday, at Eternal Hills Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1 until 2:30 p.m. at the funeral home prior to the service. Harrelson Funeral and Cremation Services is serving the family.
 
Otto F. Seiser
Otto F. Seiser, age 88, of Lake Lure died Monday, September 9, 2013, at Hospice House of Rutherford County. 
He was a native of Menomonie,Wisconsin and the son of the late Otto and  Emma Seiser.
He is survived by his wife, Dora Seiser; two sons, Jeff Seiser of Lake Lure, NC and Michael Seiser of Wabasha, MN; two sisters, Audrey Metling of Ladysmith, WI and Eunice Burns of Elco, WI; two grandchildren; and four great grandchildren.
No formal services are planned and burial will be in the Ford Cemetery in Menomonie, Wisconsin.
Memorials in lieu of flowers may be made to the Hospice House of Rutherford County, PO Box 336, Forest City, NC, 28043.

Ollie Mae McGuirt
BOSTIC - Ollie Mae McGuirt, 87, a resident of Fair Haven Home, died on Tuesday, September 10, 2013, at her residence. 
A native of Rutherford County, she was born on September 07, 1926, a daughter of the late Clarence and Lillie Bridges Martin. She retired from the textile Industry and was a member of Concord Baptist Church. Mrs. McGuirt loved the Baptist Women’s Group and her Sunday School Class.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her son, Joseph Lynn McGuirt; her brothers, David Martin, Wilbur Martin, Hurbert Martin, Garland Martin, Will Martin, Odus Martin, and Oliver Martin; her sisters, Aylene Edwards and Burthie Roberson,
She is survived by one grandson, Benjamin McGuirt; three great-grandchildren, Travis McGuirt, Trent McGuirt, and Lindsey McGuirt; two sisters-in-law, Thelma Martin and Ruby Martin; one special niece, Wanda Simpson; numerous other nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, September 13, 2013, at Concord Baptist Church with the Rev. Travis Laughlin officiating. Burial will follow in the Walls Baptist Church Cemetery. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service in the Concord Baptist Church Sanctuary.

Vera Scroggs "Grammy" 
Vera Scroggs "Grammy," age 95, of Forest City, died Tuesday, September 10, 2013, at Henderson Care Center. 
A native of Rutherford County, she was the daughter of the late George and Iva Pope. Vera was a lifetime member of Saint Francis Episcopal Church in Rutherfordton, and worked at Saint Francis Day School for many years.
She was the widow of the late Troy Scroggs and was preceded in death by a son, Ronnie Scroggs. Vera is survived by one son, Kenneth Scroggs of Forest City; five grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
The funeral service will be held at Saint Francis Episcopal Church at 3 p.m., Friday, September 13, 2013, with the Rev. Chris Beebe officiating. Burial will be at Rutherfordton City Cemetery. The visitation will follow the burial in the church parish hall.

Tony Pitchford
ELLENBORO — Mr. Tony Pitchford, 48, of 351 Leon Road, passed away Sunday, September 8, 2013 at his residence. 
A native of Cleveland County, he was born August 15, 1965, son of the late Arvis and Marilyn Lail Pitchford. He was a former member of Grover Rescue and Shelby Rescue, former employee of Cleveland Regional Medical Center and former Loss Prevention Officer at Walmart in Shelby, he was a proud “PawPaw Pitch” for his one and only grandson; Tucker. He was a devoted and loving husband, father and grandfather.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his daughter, Sara Katie Pitchford; and grandparents, Edd and Maude Pitchford. 
He is survived by his wife, Terry Knight Pitchford of the home; one son, Zachary Pitchford and fiancé, Hayle’ Byers of Ellenboro; daughter, Maty Pitchford of the home; step-daughter, Ashley Guerrero and husband, Isaac of Spindale; one sister, Debra Mellon and husband Gary of Lattimore; two brothers, Marty Francis 
and wife Jane and Kenny Francis and wife Robyn all of Shelby; one grandson, Tucker Pitchford; his special father and mother-in-law, Cecil and Mabel Knight; and several dear nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held Friday, 2 p.m. at the Chapel of Clay-Barnette Funeral Home of Shelby. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at Clay-Barnette Funeral Home of Shelby and other times at his father and mother-in-laws residence, 335 Leon Rd, Ellenboro. Rev. Richard Hayden will officiate. Burial will immediately follow in Sunset Cemetery.
