Lois Gross Wilkins
Lois Gross Wilkins, age 85, of Forest City, went home to be with her Lord, whom she had served all of her life, on Wednesday, February 27, 2013, at her home after an extended illness.
Throughout these years of sickness, her faith in God never waivered. She was the daughter of the late Arthur Gross and Dessie Gross Sherrill. She was also preceded  in death by her loving and devoted husband of 64 years, Thomas Wilkins, "Jr."
Lois is survived by her children, Ronnie Wilkins and wife, Sharon, Sandra Mayse and husband, Johnny, Tommy Wilkins and wife, Claudia, and Donald Wilkins all of Forest City. Survivors also include nine grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
She was dearly loved and respected by her family for the Christian life she lived before them. Throughout her life, she witnessed to others about her Lord. As wife and mother, she gave one-hundred percent of herself to her family. Her last request to her family was that we would all one day be prepared to meet her again in Heaven.
When she and her husband opened a family business, Wilkins Furniture Outlet, she helped in making this a successful business along with seeing that her family's needs were met. After retiring from the family business, she became the caregiver to her parents until their death. She enjoyed cooking, crocheting, reading and spending time with her family. Lois taught Sunday School and played the piano at the Missionary Methodist Church for many years. She gave of the talents that God blessed her with very willingly. In earlier years, she and her husband visited often, the nursing homes reading scriptures and singing for the residents. As of  February 27, at one-thirty in the morning, her life here on earth had ended, but her new life with her Lord has just begun for an eternity of worshiping her Savior.
She will be truly missed. In Mother's Bible we found the following that she had written on August 23, 1982, "This is how I want my family to think of me. I love each of you dearly and pray that not one will be missing at our family reunion there. Please prepare to meet me there." With love -Mother.
The funeral will be held at one o'clock Thursday, February 28, 2013, in the Harris First Baptist Church with Reverend George Whitmire, Reverend Scott Butler, and Reverend Ron Wilkins officiating.  Visitation will be held at the church from 11 until 12:45 prior to the service. At the request of the family, the interment will take place in the Eternal Hills Memorial Park during the service hour.
Memorials may be made to the Harris First Baptist Church Building Fund, 227 Hogan Road, Forest City 28043.
