FOREST CITY — Alice Baxter, age 96, died Thursday, February 21, 2013. Arrangements are incomplete and will be announced later by Thompson's Mortuary and Chapel, Inc.
 
Ramona Murray
RUTHERFORDTON — Ramona Murray, age 45, died Wednesday, February 20, 2013.The funeral service will be held Tuesday at St. John AME Zion Church at 2 p.m. The body will lie in state two hours prior to the service.
 
Tammy Chapman Bryant
Tammy Chapman Bryant, age 49, of West Main Street, Forest City, NC, died Tuesday, February 19, 2013, at her residence.
Tammy was born May 7, 1963, in Spartanburg, SC, to Pete Chapman and the late Edna Ramsey Butler. She was a homemaker and enjoyed spending time and playing with her grandchildren. She was a member of East Rutherford Church of God.
In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by her step-father, Ralph Butler and one brother, Rick Chapman.
Besides her father, she is survived by her husband of 31 years, Tommy Ray Bryant; one son, Joshua Bryant and fiancé, Brooke Stacey of Spindale; one daughter, Courtney Watson and husband, Nick of Rutherfordton; two sisters, Jan Fisher of Landrum, SC and Patricia Beard and husband, Kyle of Caroleen; two brothers, Jerry Chapman and wife, Brenda of Ellenboro and William Butler and wife, Angie of Forest City. She is also survived by four grandchildren, Hailey Watson, Maddison Watson, J.R. Bryant, Ryland Bryant, three nephews and one niece.
Funeral services will be conducted at 3 p.m. on Sunday, February 24, 2013, at the Harrelson Funeral Chapel with Reverend Jeremy Chapman officiating. Interment will follow in Rutherford County Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service time at the funeral home.

John “Bud” Martin
John “Bud” Martin, age 72, of Cedar Street Extension, Rutherfordton, NC, died Wednesday, February 20, 2013, at his residence.
Bud was born March 19, 1940, in Rutherford County, NC, to the late Robert Martin and Veva Hodge Martin. He owned and operated Martin Clean-up Shop in Rutherfordton for many years and enjoyed going to flea markets. He was known as a hard working man.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by eight brothers and sisters and an infant grandson, Wesley Lee Martin.
Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Pat Martin; one daughter, Melissa Martin; four sons, Norman Martin, Russell Martin and wife, Tina, Danny Martin and wife, Debra and Jimbo Martin and wife, Christy, all of Rutherfordton; two sisters, Pansy Bostic also of Rutherfordton and Dot Dimsdale of Polk County. He is also survived by six grandchildren, Dennis Martin, Michael Martin, Dalton Martin, Lydia Martin, Conner Fisher, Madison Fisher; and two great grandchildren, Cain and Cade Martin.
Funeral services will be conducted at 3 p.m. on Saturday, February 23, 2013, at the Calvary Baptist Church of Rutherfordton with Reverend Louis Jackson and Reverend Shane Ferguson officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to service time at the church.

Hazel Enloe Lovelace
Hazel Enloe Lovelace, 87, of Forest City, NC, died Thursday, February 21, 2013, at Hospice House of Rutherford County.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James Lovelace and her parents, Harley O. Enloe and Ida Mann Enloe.
Hazel is survived by one daughter, Brenda Conner and her husband, Bobby; two sons, Roger Lovelace and his wife, Heather and David Lovelace, all of Forest City; seven grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.
A Memorial Service will be held 3 p.m., Saturday, February 23, at Adaville Baptist Church in Spindale, where she was a member. Visitation will be from 2 until 3 p.m. at the church.

Ruby Bradley
Ruby Irene Bradley, of Spindale, was born February 22, 1927, and was welcomed into the arms of Jesus on February 21, 2013. Since she left this earthly realm one day short of her eighty-sixth birthday, she had the most glorious birthday feast and celebration ever-at the Lord’s banquet table. Her life transitioned at Memorial Mission Hospital in Asheville, NC.
Ruby was the daughter of the late Herbert Alonzo Bradley and Ettie Mae Pye Bradley and lived her entire life in Spindale, NC. She was a graduate of R-S Central High School and never missed a Class of 1944 reunion gathering.
A member of Spencer Baptist Church, Ruby loved children and served as a Sunday school teacher to children of various ages for many years.
Her career in textiles spanned over 40 years and she was employed most of that time by Spindale Mills. She retired in 1989 as a Cost Specialist.
Upon retirement, she devoted her life to being a full time “caregiver.” Her generosity and loving kindness to family, friends, and community are legendary and she will be sorely missed.
Ruby is survived by her sister, Reola Melton of Lady Lake, FL and was predeceased by sisters, Ruth and Rachel, and brothers, Alvin and Raymond. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews, who along with their children, have wonderful memories of “Aunt Ruby” that are too numerous to count and too sweet to ever forget.
Funeral services will be held 3 p.m., Sunday, February 24, at Spencer Baptist Church with Rev. Billy Vaughn and Rev. Bruce Caldwell officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the Family Life Center of the church. Interment will follow in Eternal Hills Memorial Park.

Bonnie McAbee Ledford
Bonnie McAbee Ledford, age 90, of Forest City, died Friday, February 22, 2013, at her home on Old Ross Road. 
She was the daughter of the late Lewis and Bertha McAbee. Bonnie enjoyed reading, flowers and crossword puzzles.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Roy, of 65 years; her oldest son Steve; brothers, Daniel, Luther, and Floyd; and sisters, Felmer and Elsie.  
She is survived by son, Michael Ledford of the home; son, Phillip and wife, Sandra of Forest City; daughter, Peggy West of Rutherfordton; and daughter, Darlene and husband, Wayne White of Shingle Hollow. Bonnie had a number of grandchildren, great grandchildren and even great-great grandchildren.    
It is the family’s desire for these grandchildren to act as pallbearers in the service.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday Feb 24, at 4 p.m., at Crowe Mortuary with the Reverend Wayne Toney and Reverend Don Hollifield officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at Eternal Hills Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Rutherford County.
