FOREST CITY — Patty Wall Slaughter, 63, died Wednesday, Feb. 20, 2013, at Rutherford Regional Medical Center. The family will have a Visitation from 2 until 4 p.m. Saturday, February 23, 201,3 at Washburn & Dorsey Funeral and Cremation Service. At other times, the family will gather at the residence of Robert and Crissy Mathis, at 1430 Baber Road, Rutherfordton. Washburn & Dorsey is providing cremation services.
FOREST CITY — Tammy Chapman Bryant, age 49, died Tuesday, February 19, 2013.Funeral services will be conducted at 3 p.m. on Sunday, February 24, 2013, at the Harrelson Funeral Chapel. Interment will follow in Rutherford County Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service time at the funeral home. Harrelson Funeral and Cremation Services is caring for the family of Mrs. Bryant.
FOREST CITY — Janet Stover, age 57, died Wednesday, February 20, 2013. Funeral arrangements are incomplete and will be announced later by Thompson's Mortuary, Inc. of Forest City.
FOREST CITY — Steve Canipe, age 60, died Tuesday, February 19, 2013. No formal services are planned. Harrelson Funeral and Cremation Services is caring for the family of Mr. Canipe.
FOREST CITY — Hazel Lovelace, age 87, died Thursday, February 21, 2013. Funeral services will be held 3 p.m., Saturday, at Adaville Baptist Church. Interment will follow in Eternal Hills Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Crowe's Mortuary is serving the Lovelace family.

RUTHERFORDTON — John "Bud" Martin, age 72, of Cedar Street Extension, Rutherfordton, NC, died Wednesday, February 20, 2013. Funeral arrangements are incomplete and will be announced by Harrelson Funeral and Cremation Services.
Lillian M. Wood
Lillian Marie Mode Wood, age 86, of Forest City, died Wednesday, February 20, 2013, at Rutherford Regional Medical Center.
She was born May 13, 1926, in Cleveland County and was a daughter of the late Everette and Florence Jones Mode. Lillian retired from Cool Springs School where she was cafeteria manager and prior to that she was the assistant cafeteria manager at Forest City Elementary School. She was a longtime member of Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church where she was active in the Methodist Women and served on various church committees.
She was also preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Cordell Wood in 2009, and a brother, Ray Mode.
Survivors include three sons, Stephen Wood and Ron Wood, both of Bostic and Kevin Wood of Forest City; a brother, William Mode of Swainsville, NC; and a sister, Pat Gold of Forest City. There are four grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
The funeral service will be held at eleven o'clock Friday, February 22, 2013, in the Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church with Reverend Ron Setzer officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from ten until eleven o'clock in the Church Fellowship Hall prior to the service.

The family will be at the home of a son, Kevin Wood on Gettys Street, Forest City.

Kisha Marie Twitty Hardy
Kisha Marie Twitty Hardy, age 40, of Shelby, NC, departed this life on Monday, February 18, 2013, at Hospice House of Cleveland County.
She was born in Rutherford County to the late Bishop and Essie Twitty.
She leaves to cherish fond memories her husband, Robert Hardy; one son, Robert Hardy, Jr.; daughters, Teaonna Twitty, Francheska Graves, Vantaiza and Courtney Hardy; one grandchild, Travis Twitty; sisters, Malinda Hamilton and husband, Alexander, Mary Twitty, Shirley Wesley and husband, Randy; brothers, Cornell Twitty and wife, Jeanette, Darius Twitty and wife, Lucy, and Rodney Twitty and wife, Brett.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 23, 2013, at New Bethel AME Zion Church in Forest city, NC at 1 p.m. The body will lie in state one hour prior o the service.
Thompson Mortuary and Chapel is in charge of the services.
Charles Russell Greene, Sr.
Charles Russell Greene, Sr., age 63, of Mooresboro, NC, died Tuesday, February 19, 2013, at the Upstate Carolina Medical Center in Gaffney, SC.
Charles was born December 19, 1949, in Gaston County, NC, to the late William Russell Greene and Virginia Caldwell Greene. He worked in construction as an iron worker most of his life. He enjoyed fishing, raising animals and helping people.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Christine Padgett.
Survivors include one daughter, Melisa Greene Johnson; three sons, Randy Charles Greene, Charles Greene II, Jonathon Greene and wife, Rebecca all of Forest City; one sister, Patsy Greene Self and husband, Leonard of Boiling Springs, NC; three brothers, Preston Greene and wife, Mary, Roy Allen Greene and Ronnie Lee Greene, all of Ellenboro. He is also survived by six grandchildren, Brandon Poland, Ashley Poland Harper, Dylan Johnson, Halie Smith, Damien Greene, Logan Greene and two great grandchildren, Cameron Hutchins Poland and Kolten Poland.
A time of remembrance is planned for a later date. The family will be receiving friends at 6555 US Highway 221A, Mooresboro for the next several days.

Louise C. Holland
Louise C. Holland, age 93, of Forest City, NC, died Tuesday, February 19, 2013, at the Hospice House of Rutherford County.
Louise was born October 23, 1919, in Rutherford County, NC, to the late Paul Carpenter and Dora Hames Carpenter. She was a third-grade teacher at Forest City Grammar School for 20 years before her retirement and took joy in being a pastor’s wife to her late husband. She was a faithful member of Florence Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of over 55 years, Reverend Billy M. Holland and three sisters, Lois Elmore, Dot James and Pat Randall.
Survivors include four sons, Bill Holland and wife, Barbara of Murrells Inlet, SC, Ronnie Holland and wife, Tricia of Forest City, Tommy Holland and wife, Gail of Franklinton, NC and Ricky Holland and wife, Trudy of Mooresboro; two daughters, Brenda Byrd and husband, Terry of Ellenboro and Denice Queen and husband, Roger of Forest City; one sister, Mary Givins and husband, Briscoe of Forest City. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren, Sharon Hamrick and husband, Gary, Ken Byrd and wife, Allison, Jennifer Merritt and husband, Jay, Rodney Queen and wife, Jaime, Jeff Queen and wife, Wendy, Tony Holland and wife, Jill, Andy Holland and wife, Jennifer, Wess Holland and wife, Chrissy, Chris Holland and fiancé, Katie, Hunter Holland, Tom Holland and wife, Jennifer, and 17 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Friday, February 22, 2013, at Florence Baptist Church with Dr. Reverend Bobby Gantt and Reverend Danny Camp officiating. Interment will follow in Cane Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. on Thursday, February 21, at the funeral home. At other times they will be gathered at 201 Florida Avenue, Forest City.
