Lewis H. Allen
MICHIGAN CITY, IN — Lewis H. Allen, age 80, died Friday, April 19, 2013.Funeral services will be conducted at 6 p.m. on Monday, at Emmanuel Baptist Church. The family will receive friends two hours prior to service time at the church. A private committal service will be held at Swan Lake Memorial Gardens on Tuesday. Memorial donations are suggested to the Emmanuel Baptist Church Building Fund, 760 McCool Road, Valparaiso, IN 46385. Lois McEntyre Cordell
Lois McEntyre Cordell, age 78, of Rutherfordton, NC, died Friday, April 19, 2013, at her residence.
She was a native of Rutherford County and a member of Gray's Creek Baptist Church. Lois was the widow of the late Ernest Cordell.
She is survived by two sons, Jerry Cordell of Rutherfordton, NC and David Cordell and his wife, Freida of Rutherfordton, NC; two granddaughters, Becky Honeycutt and her husband, Brian, Mandy Kimbrell and her husband, Johnny; three great-grandchildren, Austin Lancaster, Montana Honeycutt and Luke
Kimbrell; one step-brother, Gene McEntyre.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 3 p.m., Sunday prior to the service at Gray's Creek Baptist Church sanctuary. The funeral service will be at Gray's Creek Baptist Church at 3 p.m., Sunday, April 21, 2013, with Rev. Alvin Allen, Rev. John Godfrey and Rev. Bryan Cooper officiating. Interment will be at Gray's Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.

Paul Carlton McMurray
Paul Carlton McMurray, died peacefully at home on Thursday, April 18, 2013.
He was born on July 8, 1931, in Polk County, NC, to the late Dennis and Ollie McMurray. He attended Spartanburg Methodist College for a year and a half before entering the Navy where he served four years during the Korean War. Afterward, Paul received degrees in Business Administration and in Law from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill graduating in 1959. He was a member of the NC State Bar for 50 years and had a long career with Allstate Insurance Company as a claims manager. Paul was a longtime member of Hickory Grove United Methodist Church, serving as a Sunday School teacher and serving on the Administrative Board and Staff Parish committees. He also served as President of the United Methodist Men and was an active member of the Cokesbury Sunday School class. During retirement, Paul volunteered with the Charlotte Community Food Rescue, and enjoyed reading, gardening, and travel.
He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, JoAnn Nash McMurray; children Sharon and Jeff Jarman, Mitch and Kim McMurray, Paula Simpson, and Sara and Steve Osborne. His beloved grandchildren are Justin, Jeffrey, Jaden, and Josh and Stephanie Jarman, Megan and Blake McMurray, Hunter and Madison Simpson, and Bailey and Kendall Osborne. In addition, a great-grandchild is Kara Jarman.
Paul was preceded in death by his sisters, Ernestine McMurray and Maude Parris, and by his brother, Clifton McMurray.
A memorial service to celebrate Paul’s life will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, April 22, 2013, at Hickory Grove United Methodist Church. The body will lie in state for one hour prior to the service. The family will receive friends during this time as well as immediately following the service in the church parlor. Burial will follow at Kistler’s Chapel UMC, 3060 Poors Ford Rd. Rutherfordton, NC 28139.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Hickory Grove United Methodist Church, 6401 Hickory Grove Road, Charlotte, NC 28215 or Hospice and Palliative Care of Charlotte, 1420 East Seventh Street, Charlotte, NC 28204.

Lewis H. Allen
Lewis H. Allen, age 80, of Michigan City, Indiana, went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Friday, April 19, 2013, at Franciscan Hospice Center in Michigan City.
Lewis was born June 23, 1932, in Logan, West Virginia to the late Leonard Robert Allen and Sophia Vance Allen. He was the owner and operator of Allen Aluminum Siding for over 40 years, before his retirement and was a faithful member of Emmanuel Baptist Church of South Haven, IN. Lewis enjoyed ministering to children of all ages and worked for Child Evangelism Fellowship for many years. He was widely known as “Uncle Louie” to all the thousands of children and adults to whom he ministered, and was a gifted ventriloquist and captivated audiences with his little friend, Zeke. In his later years, he was involved with the nursing home ministry in which he faithfully visited and held services. He loved his Lord Jesus Christ, his late wife, Judy, his children, grandchildren and friends dearly. He truly finished his course and fought a good fight and many souls are in heaven as he was a dedicated witness for his Lord.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 40 years, Judith Svendsen Allen and by 14 brothers and sisters.
Survivors include two sons, Mark Joe Allen of Michigan City and John Christian Allen and wife, Cyndi of Valparaiso, IN; four daughters, Brenda Lou Allen of South Bend, IN, Laura A. Funchess and husband, Lanny of Cliffside, NC, Tina Marie Buckland and husband, Marvin, Faith Lynn Pisello and husband, David Keeling all of Michigan City. He is also survived by 13 grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

Rev. Lloyd Edward Montgomery
Rev. Lloyd Edward Montgomery was born, May 6 1925 and depart on April 18, 2013.
He was native of Rutherford County. He was the son of the late James and Texanna Logan Montgomery. He was the pastor of Temple of Jesus Church, Lake Lure for over 40 years.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Ila Mae Frances Freeman Montgomery; by brothers, Addie, Spurgeon and John Lee; and sisters Leora and Louise Foster.
Surviving are children, Walter Gary Montgomery and Hester of Lake Lure, Alma Jean and Will McAdams of Marion NC, Daisy Ann and Charles Allen of Fletcher NC, and Katherine Louise Montgomery of the home; siblings, Ora Lee Keys of Cincinnati Ohio, Mary Chiles of Asheville, Amanda Camp of Cincinnati Ohio; 11 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren.
Visitation and receiving of friends on April 21, 2013, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Thompson Mortuary and Chapel Inc. The Home Going Celebration will take place on Monday, April 22, 2013, at 2 p.m. at the Temple of Jesus Church, Lake Lure, NC. Officating will be Pastor Leslie A Hines.
