Heather Trainor
MILL SPRING — Heather Trainor, age 59, died Wednesday, April 10, 2013. Funeral arrangements are incomplete and will be announced by Ulysses D. Miller Funeral Service.
James Logan
LANDRUM, SC — James Oliver Logan, age 61, died Friday, April 12, 2013. Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. at Zion Grove AME Church. The body will lie in state one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow in Stoney Knoll Church Cemetery. Ulysses D. Miller Funeral Services is in charge of the arrangements.
James Edward “Eddie” Yelton
RUTHERFORDTON, NC — In loving memory of James Edward “Eddie” Yelton, age 64, who went to be with the Lord on Saturday, April 13, 2013.
James was a member of Dysartsville Baptist Church and attended Cane Creek Baptist Church. He was a member of the Forest City Masonic Lodge and was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during the Vietnam War. As a self-employed businessman, James’ career included truck driving as well as operating Colonial Manor Health Care.
Left to cherish his memories are his wife, Brenda Dellinger Yelton of the home, one son, John Wesley Yelton and his wife, Jenny of Rutherfordton; father, Howard Yelton of Forest City; one brother, Donald Yelton of Forest City; two sisters, Linda Guffey of Forest City and Lucille Mock of Colorado; three grandchildren, Sarah Yelton, Meagan Yelton and Wyatt Yelton; special nephews, Jamie Yelton and Aaron Yelton. A number of other nieces, nephews and other family members also survive. 
James was preceded in death by his mother, Shirley Jones Gross and one sister, Louise Parks.
A celebration of life will be held 3 p.m., Thursday, April 18, 2013, at Cane Creek Baptist Church, 151 Cane Creek Road, Union Mills, NC with Rev. Danny Camp and Rev. Don Harris officiating with Masonic Rites provided by the local Masonic Lodge.  Concluding services will be held at Brittain Presbyterian Church Cemetery with military honors provided by the Rutherford County Veterans Honor Guard. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2:30 p.m. at Crowe’s Mortuary Rutherfordton, NC
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Hudlow Fire Department.
The family would like to express their gratitude to the many members of the fire departments, police departments and rescue crews that came to their aid and to the many people of the community that offered their help. Your love and kindness are appreciated and will be remembered.

Ray Scruggs
Ray Scruggs, formerly of Belmont, passed away on Friday, April 12, 2013, at his home in Salisbury.  
A native of Forest City, he was a son of the late Edward Avery and Ora Lee Lowrance Scruggs.
He is survived by his daughter, Lee Anne Huffstetler Brown and son-in-law, Timothy D. Brown of Belmont; grandchildren, Emily Michelle Scruggs, Edward Ray “EJ” Scruggs Jr., Alexa Taylor Huffstetler; great grandson, Matthew James Conn; brother, Bobo Scruggs Jr. and wife, June of Forest City; sisters, Madeline Hawkins of Forest City and Betty Hartley of Charlotte; daughter-in- law, Barbara Reilly Scruggs.  
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife of 45 years, Mary Frances Scoggins Scruggs; son, Edward Ray Scruggs, Sr.; granddaughter, Heather Ann Scruggs; son-in-law, Jeff Huffstetler; brothers, Lawton and Perry Scruggs; sisters, Madge Downey and Margaret Gurley.
Ray was a veteran of the Army and retired as a service technician with Southern Bell. He enjoyed woodworking, gardening, wine making and water skiing. He was an avid golfer, loved singing and spending time with his grandchildren.
The family received friends from 11:30 a.m. until 1 p.m., Monday at McLean Funeral Directors, Belmont. A funeral service followed at 1 p.m., Monday in the Bumgardner Chapel. Reverends Russell Patterson and Ken Sausedo officiated.  Burial followed in Gaston Memorial Park.

Marie Benbow Harvin McDuffie
SUMMERTON - Marie Benbow Harvin McDuffie, 95, widow of Robert Bundy McDuffie, Sr., died Friday, April 12, 2013, at Lake Marion Nursing Facility.
Born November 2, 1917, in Summerton, she was a daughter of the late Charles Alexander Harvin and the late Alethea Benbow Davis Harvin.  She was a member of Summerton Presbyterian Church, the Duke Alumni Association, the Huguenot Society of South Carolina, and the Historical Society of South Carolina.
She is survived by a son, Robert B. "Bob" McDuffie, Jr. of Summerton; four grandchildren, Robert B. McDuffie, III, Dr. Scott R. McDuffie, Tania Marie McDuffie, and Davis D. McDuffie; four great-grandchildren, Andrew McDuffie, Parker McDuffie, Spencer Lawter, and Ramsey Lawter.
A graveside service was held at 11 a.m. on Monday, April 15, 2013, at Summerton Evergreen Cemetery with Rev. Garland Hart, Rev. Rob Pierce and Mrs. Tania Marie McDuffie officiating.  
Pallbearers will be Percy Harvin, Harold Detwiler, John McDougall, Jan Morton, and Matthew Powell. Visitation was held from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Stephens Funeral Home and other times at the residence, 8 McClary Street, Summerton.
