Lucy Hollifield
BOSTIC — Lucy Saunders Hollifield, 84, died Thursday, April 11, 2013. The funeral will be held at 4 p.m. Sunday, at Cedar Grove United Methodist Church. Burial will follow in the Sunshine United Methodist Church Cemetery. The visitation will be from 2 until 3:45 p.m., Sunday at Cedar Grove UMC Fellowship Hall. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Rutherford County, PO Box 336, Forest City, NC 28043.

Margaret Lail
ELLENBORO - Margaret Biggerstaff Lail, 90, died April 11, 2013. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. on Saturday, at Campfield Memorial Baptist Church with the Rev. Scott Huffman officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the funeral at the church. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Campfield Memorial Baptist Church Building Fund. The family will be at 362 Campfield Church Road in Ellenboro.
 
ELLENBORO, NC — Harlan Ray Owens, age 79, died Thursday, April 11, 2013. The  graveside service will be held at 3:30 p.m., Sunday, in the Corinth Baptist Church Cemetery with Reverend Ad Hopper officiating. Visitation will follow the service at the cemetery. Memorials may be made to Corinth Baptist Church, 767 Pinehurst Road, Ellenboro, North Carolina 28040. The Padgett and King Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
 
Hazel Burnett Jackson
Mrs. Hazel Burnett Jackson, 82, of Whiteside Road, Rutherfordton, died Wednesday, April 10, 2013, at Willow Ridge. 
She was the daughter of the late Ray and Leah Queen Burnett, and was also preceded in death by a sister, Francis Carver; six brothers, Boyd, Howard, Bob, Cecil, Frank, and Billy Burnett; and a great grandson, Joshua Hoyle. 
She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was a homemaker, retired textile employee and a member of Fellowship Baptist Church. 
She is survived by her husband, Boyce Jackson; three daughters, Susan Philbeck and her husband, Britt of Bostic, Barbara Bennett and her husband, Johnny Sr, and Debra Mauney and her husband, Jimmy all of Rutherfordton; two sisters, Margaret Burnett Baynard and Pauline Burnett Moore, both of Forest City: there are six grandchildren, Brenda Philbeck, Dana Dobbins and her husband, Marty, Donna Hoyle and her husband, Steve, Jeff Mauney and his wife, Cathy, Johnny Bennett and his wife, Brenda and Melissa Owens and her husband, Jonathan; there are 10 great grandchildren, Dusty Carpenter and his wife, Amanda, Kaityln Philbeck, Kyle, Adam, and Breanna Dobbins, Morgan and Skyler Hoyle, Natalie and Summer Bennett, and Hunter Owens; there are two step great grandchildren, Seairra and Reva Parker; there is a great-great grandchild, Wesley Carpenter, and a step great-great grandchild, Ethan Gamble. 
The Funeral will be held a 2 p.m., Sunday, April 14, 2013, at Fellowship Baptist Church. Rev. Terry White and Rev. Ed Rogers will officiate. The body will lie in state 30 minutes prior to the service. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. 
The Visitation will be from 7 until 9 p.m., Saturday at Washburn & Dorsey Funeral and Cremation Service.

Margaret Biggerstaff Lail
ELLENBORO - Margaret Biggerstaff Lail, 90, of 362 Campfield Church Road, passed away April 11, 2013, at Hospice House in Kings Mountain, NC.  
Margaret was born August 1, 1922, to the late William P. and Mamie Jones Biggerstaff. She was a graduate of Lattimore High School and Farahs Beauty College. She worked and retired from Fiber Industries in Earl, NC and after her retirement worked part-time at Wal-Mart in Forest City, NC. 
In addition to her parents, Margaret was preceded in death by the love of her life, her husband, Charles Buck Lail; sister, Pattie Lee Biggerstaff Doty; brother-in-law, Manley Forbes, nephew Rev. Joe Forbes and great nephew Keith Forbes.  
She is survived by her sister, Virginia B. Forbes of Ellenboro, brother-in-Law, J T Doty, and numerous nephews and nieces. 
Margaret was a member of Campfield Memorial Baptist Church where she attended the Margaret Snell Sunday School Class where prior to her illness she held the position of financial secretary and assisted in the children's department. Her gifts of ministry included mission trips to New York, assisting with VBS, serving on the Bereavement Committee, visiting the homebound, and areas of church evangelism.   Margaret loved her family, her church family and friends, but most importantly her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ who was exemplified by her life. 
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. on Saturday, April 13, 2013, at Campfield Memorial Baptist Church with the Rev. Scott Huffman officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the funeral at the church. 
In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Campfield Memorial Baptist Church Building Fund, Hospice of Rutherford or Cleveland County, or the American Cancer Society.  
The family will be at 362 Campfield Church Road in Ellenboro.

Lucy Saunders Hollifield
Mrs. Lucy Saunders Hollifield, 84, of Bostic, died Thursday evening, April 11, 2013, at Hospice House, Forest City.
She was the widow of Robert Gettys Hollifield and was the daughter of the late Charlie and Gracie Bolinger Saunders. She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Buddy Saunders and Odas Saunders and two sisters, Catherine Brown and Eula Saunders. 
She received her Nursing Degree from Grace Hospital in Morganton and was a nurse at Rutherford Hospital for 30 years, and also worked at Dr. George Becknell's practice. She was a member of Cedar Grove United Methodist Church where she was in the choir and active in the United Methodist Women.
She is survived by her daughter, Jane Brackett and her husband, Mickey of Boiling Springs, SC; two sons, Andy Hollifield and his wife, Cathy and Steve Hollifield and his wife, Janet all of Sunshine; a brother, Raymond Saunders of Morganton; there are five grandchildren, Suzanna Brackett Vanderver, Daniel Brackett, Kristin Hollifield, Kaila Hollifield, and Rachel Hollifield; there are three great grandchildren, Jacob Vanderver, Sadie Vanderver, and Lyla Kate Vanderver.
The Funeral will be held at 4 p.m. Sunday, April 14, 2013, at Cedar Grove United Methodist Church. Rev. Cindy Lunsford will officiate and Rev. Donald Lovelace will provide a Eulogy. Burial will follow in the Sunshine United Methodist Church Cemetery. The visitation will be from 2 until 3:45 p.m., Sunday at Cedar Grove UMC Fellowship Hall.

Harlan Ray Owens
ELLENBORO, NC — Harlan Ray Owens, age 79, of Blossom Drive, Ellenboro, North Carolina, died Thursday, April 11, 2013.  
He was native of Rutherford County and a son of the late Charlie S. Owens and Lissie Ramsey Owens. Harland was a member of the Corinth Baptist Church and retired from the Town of Forest City Public Works Department with over 17 years service. 
He was preceded in death by his wife, Lois Hoppes Owens in 2012. 
Survivors include his step-son, Keith Champion of Ellenboro.
A service from the graveside will be held at 3:30 p.m., Sunday, April 14, 2013, in the Corinth Baptist Church Cemetery with Reverend Ad Hopper officiating. Visitation will follow the service at the cemetery.
Memorials may be made to Corinth Baptist Church, 767 Pinehurst Road, Ellenboro, North Carolina 28040.
