RUTHERFORD COUNTY —
FOREST CITY — Charles Cleveland Hardin, age 84, died on Friday, December 7, 2012. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 2 until 3 p.m. at Crowes Funeral Home. Services will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday. Donations may be made to Hospice of Rutherford County. Crowe's Mortuary is serving the family.
SHELBY – Mr. Junius “Candyman” Taswell Gardner, 79, died Thurday, December 6, 2012. The family will receive friends Saturday, from 6 until 8 p.m. at Clay-Barnette Funeral Home. Services will be held Sunday, at 2 p.m., at the funeral home chapel. Burial will follow in Sunset Cemetery with military honors. Memorials may be sent to Cleveland Healthcare Foundation, 201 E. Grover St., Shelby, NC 28150. Clay-Barnette Funeral Home of Shelby is serving the family.
Christine “Strawberry” Appleman
Christine “Strawberry” Appleman, 49, of Shelby, passed away at Carolinas Medical Center on Thursday, December 6, 2012.
A native of Cleveland County, she worked at P.P.G. for 20 years and was a C.N.A. at White Oak Manor of Kings Mountain. She was a member of New Prospect Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Brenda Patterson Canipe and her husband, Ronnie Lee Appleman. She is survived by her father an step-mother, Charles & Gail Canipe of Shelby; two sons, Allen Appleman and fiancé, Holly Camp of Shelby, Jeremiah Appleman of Lattimore; two brothers, Timothy Canipe of Henrietta and Barry Canipe of Boone; a sister, Nina Topper of Lebo, Kansas; and grandparents, Edley & Daphine Canipe of Rutherfordton.
The family will receive friends at New Prospect Baptist Church, Monday, December 10, from 3 until 4 p.m. A memorial service will follow at 4 p.m. at the church. The Rev. Michael Grant will officiate. Burial will be in New Prospect Baptist Church Cemetery.
Cleveland Funeral Services and Crematory is assisting the family.
