MOORESBORO — Sharon Koenig Bradley, 63, died Thursday, July 25, 2013. Funeral Services will be held at 3 p.m., Sunday, at Broad River Baptist Church. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Burial is in the church cemetery. The family will be at the home of her daughter, Tammie Gorman, 183 Hines Road, Mooresboro. Eggers Funeral Home of Chesnee is serving the family.
 
Michael Ward
FOREST CITY, NC — Datus Michael Ward,  SFC, US Army, (Ret), age 64, died Thursday, July 25, 2013. The funeral service will be held at four o'clock, Sunday, in the Big Springs Baptist Church. Interment with military honors accorded by the United States Army will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be in the church Fellowship Hall from 2 until 3:45 prior to the service. Members of the Rutherford County Firefighters Honor Guard will serve as Honorary Escort. The Padgett and King Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
 
Betty Ford Clements
SPINDALE — Betty Ellen Ford Clements, 82, died Wednesday, July 24, 2013. 
Funeral services will be held 3 p.m., Sunday, at Crowe’s Mortuary with Rev. Larry Ford officiating. Interment will follow in Eternal Hills Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Crowe's Mortuary is serving the family.
 
Jerry Michael Sparks
Jerry Michael Sparks, 72, of Spindale, NC, passed away peacefully July 18, 2013, after a brave fight with Alzheimer’s disease.  
His family will receive friends on Monday, July 29, at 10 a.m. at the chapel of Crowe’s Mortuary in Rutherfordton, NC, followed by a memorial service at 11 a.m. A graveside service will be held at the Southern Baptist Church of Ruth, NC, immediately after the memorial; he was a faithful member of that congregation his entire life.
Jerry was born April 23, 1941, in Rutherfordton, the son of the late John Hayden Sparks and Leon Cole Sparks. He was a graduate of Rutherfordton-Spindale Central High School and the Advanced Driver Training Academy at North Carolina State University. An avid fisherman and collector of unusual matchbook covers the world over, Jerry was a life-long and devoted fan of NASCAR, as well as the LSU Bengal Tigers. Throughout his life, Jerry never knew a stranger, was a man with a generous and kind heart, and he gave and gained great strength from his family and scores of friends. Many of those friends were his fellow over-the-road drivers from 38 years in that profession, having driven 9 years at Royster Oil Company in Shelby, NC, and 29 years for Overnight Transportation in Gaffney, S.C. He retired from Overnight in October of 2004.
Jerry is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 42 years, Ann Saine Sparks; his brother, Dr. Joe Edward Sparks and wife, Gail of Huntsville, AL; sisters-in-law, Mary Thompson and Lafayette of Asheville, NC, and Evelyn Sparks of Anderson, SC; nieces, Sara Sparks Van Asch  and Fraser of Raleigh, NC, Anna Dunn Sparks of Chapel Hill, NC; nephew, Charles Hayden Sparks of Raleigh, NC; and their mother, Sara Scott Dunn Sparks of Raleigh, NC; niece, Heather McKoy Porch  and Jason of Huntsville, AL; and nephew, Lance McKoy and Laura of Colleyville, TX; nieces Cynthia Allison and Michael of Greenville, SC, and Nancy Jennings  and Thad of Chapel Hill, NC; and nephew, David Keith Thompson and Linda of Pensacola, FL; and very dear first cousins, Rev. Robert Sparks and Virginia of Tarboro, NC, and Evelyn Krause Moss and Dr. Zeb of Aberdeen, NC; and several grandnieces and grandnephews.
Memorial service will be held 11 a.m., Monday, July 29, at Crowe’s Mortuary with Rev. John Perry officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the mortuary.
Memorial contributions may be made to The Alzheimer’s Foundation; the Christian Life Center of Southern Baptist Church of Ruth, NC; Hospice of Rutherford County, NC; or the Rutherford Regional Medical Center Foundation, Rutherfordton, NC.

Betty Ford Clements
Betty Ellen Ford Clements, 82, of Spindale, died Wednesday, July 24, 2013 at Medical University Hospital, Charleston, SC. A native of Rutherford County, Betty was the daughter of the late Augustus George and Elizabeth Sisk Ford. Dedicated to her family, Mrs. Clements was an accomplished homemaker and an avid gardener. She was a caring person whose last act was assisting one of her friends.
Left to cherish her memory is her daughter, Kaye Clements White and husband Grant of Waxhaw, NC; granddaughter Holly LiVolsi and husband Rich of Unionville, NC; great grandchildren Joseph LiVolsi and Dominic LiVolsi of Unionville, NC.; and a number of nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Johnnie Madge Clements; daughter Faye Clements; sisters Mildred Ruppe, Evelyn Smith, Dorothy Crowder and brother Gene Ford.
Funeral services will be held 3PM Sunday, July 28, 2013 at Crowe’s Mortuary with Rev. Larry Ford officiating. Interment will follow in Eternal Hills Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.

Dorothy Mae Cox McAbee Workman
Dorothy Mae Cox McAbee Workman, 94, of Mill Spring, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, July 24, 2013, at her residence. 
She was born in Spartanburg, SC, to the late Luther Cox and Molly Hudgin Cox. She worked as an assembler in the furniture industry.
Left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Doris Ann Metcalf of Mill Spring, NC; stepchildren, Tressie Bradey and Delano, Margie McAbee, Betty Kimmons, Mary Horne and Jacky, Edward Workman and Debbie and Jerry Workman; 37 plus grandchildren, 75 plus great-grandchildren and 44 plus great-great-grandchildren. 
In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by two husbands, Samuel McAbee and Leroy Workman; children Ervin McAbee, Jeannette Shelton, Gail Conard, Glenn McAbee, Teresa Mason Inez Blackwell, and Eileen Lofton.
Funeral Services will be at 2 p.m. on Monday, July 29, 2013, at Grassy Knob Baptist Church with Revs. Jerry Jackson, Lewis Jackson and Blain Jones officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
