BOSTIC — Herman “Gene” Hensley, age 69, died on Thursday, July 25, 2013. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Saturday, at the Harrelson Funeral Chapel. Interment will follow in Sunshine United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from noon until 1:45 p.m. at the funeral home prior to the service. Harrelson Funeral and Cremation Services is caring for the family of Mr. Hensley.

MOORESBORO — Gary Clark Causby, 61, died on Tuesday, July 23, 2013. A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. on Saturday, at Race Path Baptist Church. Billy Butler, Jr.
ELLENBORO — Billy Spurgeon Butler, Jr., 60, died on July 24, 2013. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, at the A.C. McKinney Memorial Chapel. Burial will follow at Eternal Hills Cemetery of Spindale. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. on Friday, at McKinney-Landreth & Carroll Funeral and Cremation Service.

SPINDALE — Betty Ellen Ford Clements, 82, died Wednesday, July 24, 2013. Funeral services will be held 3 p.m., Sunday, at Crowe’s Mortuary. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the mortuary.
 
Minnie Hamilton
CHESNEE, SC — Minnie Lee Hamilton, age 92, died Tuesday, July 23, 2013. Funeral services will be held Sunday at Friends of Christ United Methodist Church in Chesnee at 2 p.m. The body will lie in state one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in Gaffney Chapel Cemetery. Ulysses D. Miller Funeral Service is in charge of the arrangements.

ELLENBORO — Jake William "Dub"  Beaver, 75,died on Wednesday, July
24, 2013. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m., Saturday at Stamey
Funeral Home in Fallston. The funeral will be 2 p.m., Sunday at Polkville Baptist Church. The body will be placed in the church 30 minutes prior to the service.   Burial will follow at Rose Hill Memorial Park in Fallston. Herman “Gene” Hensley
Herman “Gene” Hensley, age 69, of Bostic, NC, passed away Thursday, July 25, 2013, at the Hospice House of Rutherford County.
Gene was born May 23, 1944, in Rutherford County, NC, to Robert Creed Hensley and Laura Pansy Briscoe Hensley. He was a retired purchasing agent for Stonecutter Mills and a faithful member of Sunshine United Methodist Church where he served as Sunday School superintendent and song leader. 
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Bruce Hensley of Union Mills.
Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of fifty years, Marie Hensley; two daughters, Angela Davis and husband, Bobby of Bostic and Sherry Walker and husband, Billy of Forest City; two brothers, Arnold Hensley and wife, Lois of Union Mills and Boyce Hensley and wife, Mary of Spartanburg, SC; one sister-in-law, Nancy Hensley of Rutherfordton; and two half sisters, Lockie Sailors and Bobby Joe Durham, both of Texas. He was also a loving grandfather to Shane, Ashley and Kala Davis and Kari, Brandon, Dusty and Nicholas Walker; and also to nine great-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Saturday, July 27, 2013, at the Harrelson Funeral Chapel with Reverend Teresa R. Blanton officiating. Interment will follow in Sunshine United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from noon until 1:45 p.m. at the funeral home prior to the service.

Barnett Absher, Jr. 
CHESNEE, SC — Barnett Absher, Jr., 81, of Chesnee, SC, passed away on Wednesday, July 24, 2013, at Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home. 
He was the husband of Leila Mae Walker Absher. Mr. Absher was a native of Spartanburg County and a son of the late Barnett and Vida Cody Absher, Sr. He retired from Central Refrigeration and was a member of Fairview Baptist Church and an active Shriner. 
In addition to his wife, he is survived by sons and daughters in law, Michael Keeter of Forest City, NC, Danny and Billie Keeter of Bostic, NC, and Scott Keeter of Rutherfordton, NC, deceased son Ronnie Absher and surviving wife, Deborah Absher of Boiling Springs; daughters and sons in law, Judy and Joey Hensley of Spartanburg, Lasondra and Billy Terry of Ellenboro, NC, and Donna and Kenneth Vassey of Forest City, NC; brothers, Arthur and Woodrow Absher; 22 grandchildren; 34 great grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild. 
He was predeceased by three brothers and three sisters. 
Visitation will be held Saturday, July 27, 2013, from 2 until 3 p.m. at Fairview Baptist Church. Funeral services will follow visitation Saturday at 3 p.m. at Fairview Baptist Church officiated by Rev. Ty Childers and Rev. Gary Adkins. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

Gary Clark Causby
MOORESBORO — Gary Clark Causby, 61, of NC Highway 120, Mooresboro, died on Tuesday, July 23, 2013, at SECU Hospice House of Forest City. 
A native of Cleveland County, he was born on June 08, 1952, a son of the late Clarence Willis “Bill” Causby and Sara Clark Causby of Spindale. He was retired from Ingles and was a member of Race Path Baptist Church. He was also a member of Grandparents Raising Grandchildren, and the Mustang Club.
In addition to his father, he is preceded in death by his grandson, Stephen “Tyler” Watkins.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Barbara Whitaker Causby; two sons, Christopher Kaine Causby and Ryan Lee Causby, both of the home; two daughters, Heather Dawn Causby of Ellenboro and fiancé, Alan Holycross, II, also of Ellenboro, and Kari Beth Causby of Mooresboro; one sister, Connie Jo Causby of Marion; his grandchildren, Alan Holycross, III and Chase Hayes.
A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. on Saturday, July 27, 2013, at Race Path Baptist Church with the Rev. Randall Cooper, Rev. John Godfrey and Rev. Lance Scarlett officiating. Visitation will be held following the service in the fellowship building.

Billy Spurgeon Butler, Jr.
ELLENBORO — Billy Spurgeon Butler, Jr., 60, of U.S. Highway 74 Business, Ellenboro, went to be with the Lord on July 24, 2013, at SECU Hospice House of Rutherford County. 
A native of Rutherford County, he was born on September 05, 1952, a son of the late Billy Spurgeon Butler, Sr. and Lillian Chapman Butler Newton and husband, Homer of Polk County. He was an auto mechanic and the owner-operator of “Git-R-Done” Auto Service of Ellenboro. He was a member of Glenwood Baptist Church of Bostic. He enjoyed dirt track racing and raced at Harris Speedway.
In addition to his father, he is preceded in death by one daughter, Mia Angel Ledford; two sons, Joshua Matthew Ledford and Brian Stacey Griffin; and his maternal grandfather, Garfield Chapman.
In addition to his mother and step-father, he is survived by his children, Billy Spurgeon Butler, III, “Spud” and girlfriend, Crystal Templeton of Ellenboro, R.G. Butler and girlfriend, Trish Flynn of Green Creek, Christopher Butler and girlfriend, Tracey Stofer of Spindale, Justin Dylan Shane Fowler and girlfriend, Crystal Hudson of Ellenboro, Nicole Summer “Nicki” Fowler of the home, Marie Starleitha Butler, of the home, Misty Dawn Blanton and husband, Billy of Ellenboro, Michael Ledford and girlfriend, Tiffany of Ellenboro, Steven Ledford of Ellenboro, and Larry Richard Fowler, II, of Ellenboro; his maternal grandmother, Geneva Ramsey Chapman of Ellenboro; his brother, Ronnie Butler of Forest City; two sisters, Janice McCraw and husband, Tom of Forest City and Linda Garland and husband, Johnny of Ellenboro; 19 grandchildren, Dakota, Destiny B., Bo, Ciara, Cyrena, Gabriel, Tucker, Destiny L., Bryson, Tylon, Kassidy, Hailey, Jade, Noah, Donathan, Hunter, Makayla, Nathan, Madison; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, July 27, 2013, at the A.C. McKinney Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Neil Murray officiating. Burial will follow at Eternal Hills Cemetery of Spindale (formerly Sunset Memorial Park). Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. on Friday, July 26, 2013, at McKinney-Landreth & Carroll Funeral and Cremation Service.
