FOREST CITY — Barbara Ann Evans Owens, 57, died Friday, May 3, 2013. A celebration of Barbara’s life was held at 4 p.m. on Monday, at Caroleen Congregational Holiness Church with Rev. Paul Nelon and Rev. Steven Matheny officiating. The Family received friends from 7 to 9 p.m. on Sunday in the Caroleen Cogreational Holiness Church Sanctuary. Crowe's Mortuary and Crematory assisted the family.
Donald Bailey
FOREST CITY — Donald Raymond Bailey, age  74, died, May 6, 2013. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Thursday, at The Padgett and King Chapel. Visitation will be from 1 until 2 prior to the service. Interment will follow in the Eternal Hills Memorial Park. The Padgett and King Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
Clarence Lane
RUTHERFORDTON, NC — In loving memory of Clarence Lane, age 86, of Elliot Road, who went home to be with our Lord and Savior on Saturday, May 4, 2013, while being cared for at Hospice House of Forest City.
Clarence attended Greenhill Elementary School and Mt. Vernon High School, served in the U.S. Army from 1953 – 1957 with two years of service in Germany and retired after many years of employment at Stonecutter Mills. He was a faithful and loyal member of Vein Mountain Baptist Church in McDowell County where he served as Sunday School Director for over 30 years and was an active deacon until his recent illness and served as chairman of the deacon board for over thirty years. He was also a church trustee and served on numerous church committees. His dedication to his church was such that he attended Sunday School seventeen years without missing a Sunday.
A humble and loyal friend he was loved by all and showed love in return.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 56 years, Dorothy Sue Vaughn Lane of the home; special niece Tonya Pittman whom he considered a daughter; two grandchildren Jonathan Bailey and Kristen Weathers; two great grandchildren Gracie Mae and Blaydon Troy; three sisters Lillie Jones and husband Herman of Cliffside, NC; Ann Hamby of Statesville, NC and Sue Lane of Rutherfordton, NC; one brother Charles Lane of Rutherfordton, NC.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m., Wednesday, May 8, 2013, at Vein Mountain Baptist Church with Rev. Doug Carpenter and Rev. Barry Gouge officiating. Mr. Lane will lie in state 30 minutes prior to the service. Concluding services will be held in the church cemetery with military honors provided by the Rutherford County Veterans Honor Guard. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, May 7, 2013, at Crowe’s Mortuary in Rutherfordton, NC.
In lieu of flowers, memorial may be made to the Vein Mountain Baptist Church Cemetery Fund.

Iris Mann Mathis
FOREST CITY, NC — Iris Mann Mathis, age 85, died Friday, May 3, 2013, at Genesis Elder Care in Mooresville, NC. 
She was born November 6, 1927 in Palatka, Florida and was a daughter of the late Oscar Crockett Mann and Ella Henson Mann. Iris worked as a rural carrier for the United States Postal Service for twenty-two years and was the widow of John Mathis of Rutherfordton, North Carolina.
She was a resident of Inman, South Carolina for more than 50 years where she was a member of the Inman Presbyterian Church, was active in the American Legion, Inman Post and was a gifted seamstress having made many wedding and prom dresses for area residents in her lifetime. She also was a proud member of the Red Hat Society in Sebring, Florida.
Survivors include her son, John Mathis and wife Donna of Chesnee, SC, a daughter, Ella Mathis Johnson and her husband Dennis of Mooresville, NC, brothers, Louis Mann and Allen Mann both of Florida, and sister, Joyce Hancock of Mississippi. There are also two grandchildren, John Kenneth Mathis, and Terry Ann Mathis and one great-grandchild, Kendra Belle Mathis.
A graveside service will be held Saturday, May 11, 2013, at eleven o'clock in the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Cemetery in Rutherfordton, North Carolina with visitation to follow the service at the cemetery.

Linda Ann Evans
Linda Ann Evans, age 58, of Bostic, NC, died Sunday, May 5, 2013, at her residence.
Linda was born March 25, 1955, in Rutherford County, NC, to the late Nathan Morgan Hoyle and Mossie Sue Hensley Hoyle Baynard who resides in Forest City.  She worked for Weave Tech and Stonecutter Mills for many years. She attended the Rutherfordton Congregational Holiness Church. Linda loved doing yard work and spending time with her family.
In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by one brother, Billy Hoyle.
Besides her mother, she is survived by her husband of 32 years, Jimmy Evans; four daughters, Kristy Evans, Krystal Boone and husband, Brandon, Kirstin Evans and Brianna Evans all of Bostic; one son, Jimmy Evans, Jr. of Bostic; one step-daughter, Shannon Lawson of Mt. Holly, NC and one step-son, Jamie Evans of Kannapolis; two sisters, Sandy Selba of Mt. Airy, NC and Tammy Hoyle of Maryland. She is also survived by one grandson, Brandon Lawson.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, May 8, 2013, at the Caroleen Congregational Holiness Church with Reverend Charles Evans and Reverend Johnny Willis officiating. The body will lie in state at the family residence located at 824 Highway 74 Business, Bostic. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. on Tuesday at the family residence.
