Marie Conner Frady

NEBO— Marie Conner Frady, age 87, of Nebo, died Saturday, April 12, 2014. Funeral services were held Monday in the Westmoreland Chapel. Burial was held in McDowell Memorial Park following the ceremony. Memorials may be made to Charity Mission FWB Church at PO Box 171, Nebo, NC 28761. 

 

Gary Sailors

ELLENBORO— Gary Sailors, age 57, of Ellenboro, recently passed away. A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. Thursday at the Harrelson Funeral Chapel. Inurnment will follow in Rutherford County Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service time at the funeral home. Memorial donations are suggested to the charity of choice. Harrelson Funeral and Cremation Services is serving the family.

 

Hattie Clayton Gray

ASHEVILLE— Hattie Clayton Gray, age 59, of Asheville, died Friday, April 11, 2014. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Blue Ridge Baptist Church in Edneyville. The burial will be private. The Donald I. Roseboro Funeral and Cremation Service is serving the family.

GILKEY— Roger Dale Taylor, of Gilkey, Sunday, April 13, 2013. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at McMahan's Funeral Home Chapel with visitation from 1-2 p.m. prior to the service at McMahan's. McMahan's Funeral Home and Cremation Services is serving the family. 

 

 

 

 

 

Anita Louise (Sizemore) Goulette 

Anita Louise (Sizemore) Goulette, 75, of Forest City, NC passed away peacefully at home with family by her side Sunday, April 13, 2014.

Anita was retired, and was a native of New Hampshire. She was the daughter of the late John Orval Sizemore and Charlotte Dearborn Sizemore. She was preceded in death by sisters Marlene Salisbury, Phyllis Connell, and her brothers Ronald Sizemore, John Sizemore, Curtis Baker, Stewart Baker, and Linwood Baker.

She is survived by her three children, Scott Ellis of Worthington, OH, Shawn Ellis of California, and Tina Breslin of Greenfield, NH; three brothers, Truman Sizemore of Antrim, NH, Eugene Sizemore of Merrimack, NH, and Kerwin Sizemore of Inman, SC; there are four grandchildren, four great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

After retiring in 1990 as a manager from the NH State Liquor Commission, she moved to Maine with her husband Robert Goulette. Then after many New England winters, she moved to North Carolina close to her brothers and to enjoy warmer weather.

A very giving and compassionate person, she will be remembered for her many selfless actions throughout her life by everyone who knew her. No matter what the encounter, anyone that came in contact with her throughout the course of her life remembered her genuine kindness and caring sprit.

The family will announce arrangements at a later date with the urn burial to be in the Maplewood Cemetery, Concord Street, Antrim, NH.

She always was an avid supporter of Hospice. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of Rutherford County, PO Box 336, Forest City, NC 28043.

Willard Edward Alley

Willard Edward Alley, age 91, of Clay Street, Forest City, NC, died Saturday, April 12, 2014 at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center.

Born June 22, 1922 in Statesville, NC, he was a son of the late Garfield Alley and Mary McCreary Alley Sells. Willard served in the US Army and was a veteran of World War II. He worked in textiles most of his life and was a member of Crestview Baptist Church.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of fifty-eight years, Beatrice Smith Alley; two daughters, Diane Alley and Shirley Googe; brother, Bill Alley; sister, Blanche Alley and grandson, Frank Henry Sherrill.

Survivors include two daughters, Mary McGinnis of Mooresboro and Linda Sherrill of Cleveland, NC; son Ray Alley of Forest City; thirteen grandchildren, thirty-two great-grandchildren and nine great-great-grandchildren. He is also survived by a long-time friend and companion, June Bruce of England.

Funeral services will be conducted at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 16, 2014 at the Harrelson Funeral Chapel with Reverend Jerry Ruppe officiating. Interment will follow in Alexander Mills Cemetery with military honors being accorded by the Rutherford County Honor Guard. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service time at the funeral home.

Gary Sailors 

Gary Sailors, age 57, of Ellenboro, NC, died at his residence.

Born November 20, 1956 in Rutherford County, he was the son of the late John E. Sailors, Jr. and Mary Putman Hodge who resides with her husband, Ken in Caroleen.

Gary worked as an industrial painter and worked for OMC Industries for many years. He loved music and played the drums for several local churches. He was a member of Sisk Memorial Missionary Methodist Church. Gary was also known for his witty sense of humor.

In addition to his mother, survivors include his daughter, Holly Sailors Scoggins and husband, Justin of Winter Haven, Florida and sister, Teresa Reynolds and husband, Jimmy of Forest City.

A memorial service will be conducted at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 17, 2014 at the Harrelson Funeral Chapel with Rev. Frank Lewis and Rev. Deborah Potter officiating the service. Inurnment will follow in Rutherford County Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service time at the funeral home.

Memorial donations are suggested to the charity of choice.
