Ruth Hughes "Granny" Jones
Ruth Hughes "Granny" Jones, age 96, a former resident of Ellenboro, died Friday November 16, 2012, at White Oak Manor where she was a resident.  
She was a native of Cleveland County and a daughter of the late James Richard Hughes and Flossie Hawkins Hughes. Ruth was a homemaker and faithful member of Corinth Baptist Church and was the widow of the late William Claudus Jones. She was also preceded in death by her sons-in-law, Jimmy Harrison and Oscar "Speedy" Bowman.
Survivors include a son, Nelson Jones and his wife Judy of Ellenboro; two daughters, Judy K. Bowman of Kings Mountain, NC and Barbara J. Harrison of Ellenboro; a sister, Rachel Hardin of Union, SC; and five grandchildren, four step-grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at three o'clock Monday, November 19, 2012, in the Corinth Baptist Church with Reverend Dr. David Jendrey and Reverend Ad Hopper officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held from 7 until 9 pm Sunday evening at Padgett and King.  Memorials may be made to Corinth Baptist Church, 767 Pinehurst Road, Ellenboro, NC 28040. Bill Eastridge
William "Bill" Eastridge, 87, of Forest City, NC, spent his last days at Hospice House, Forest City, NC.  He is the son of William Robert Eastridge, Sr. and Emma Dixon Eastridge. He is preceded in death by his parents, and sister Annie Gwendolen Eastridge.  Bill attended Charlotte Central High School and graduated from Shelby High School.  Following high school, he enlisted in the US Navy, serving as a bombardier in the Naval Air Corps, WW II.  After his discharge, he attended Lees-McRae Jr. College and graduated from Appalachian State Teacher's College with a B.S.  He retired from Nationwide Insurance Company where he worked as a District Claims Manager.  He has been an avid hunter and fisherman, loving the out-of-doors; and loved his family greatly.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Barbara "Bobbie" Rhea Eastridge; son William K. Eastridge and wife Sharon, daughter Pamela E. Cobaugh and husband Steve, and son Thomas R. Eastridge and wife Laura.  He has 10 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.  He is an active member of Brittain Presbyterian Church in Rutherfordton, NC where a Memorial Service will be held at eleven o'clock Saturday, November 24, 2012 with a reception/lunch to follow in the church Fellowship Hall.

Margaret V. Splawn
Margaret Verdene Splawn, age 77, of Forest City, died Friday, November 16, 2012 at her residence.
Margaret was born on May 16, 1935, in Rutherford County to the late E.V. Splawn and Mary Estelle Gosey Splawn. Margaret was a Navy Wave from 1956 to 1959. Margaret was also a registered nurse for 34 years (Acute Care for psychiatric patients). Her career, family, and belief in God were her life.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Bobby Splawn, and nephews, Vernon Splawn Jr and Ronald G. Bowman.
She is survived by her brother, Vernon Splawn of Loganville, GA; a sister, Shirley Glawson and husband George of Forest City; a sister, Helen S. Bowman of Lawndale; another sister, Sylvia Scruggs of Sandy Mush; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Monday, November 19, 2012, at Harrelson Funeral Chapel. Interment will follow at Eternal Hills Cemetery of Forest City. The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home.

Mary Lou Rumfelt Jaynes
UNION MILLS — Mary Lou Rumfelt Jaynes, age 60, died Friday, November 16, 2012. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. Tuesday at McMahan's Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow in McMahan's Funeral Home Chapel at 2 p.m. Burial will be at
Macedonia Baptist Church Cemetery in McDowell County. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of Rutherford County, P.O. Box 336, Forest City NC 28043. McMahan's Funeral Home and Cremation Services is in charge of the arrangements.
