MOORESBORO — Clarence H. Scott, age 58, died Thursday, October 31, 2013. No formal services are planned. Harrelson Funeral and Cremation Services is serving the family.

MARION — Donnie Wayne Limerick, age 52, died Thursday, October 31, 2013. Funeral services will be conducted at 7 p.m. on Monday, at the Harrelson Funeral Chapel. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service time at the funeral home. Harrelson Funeral and Cremation Services is serving the family.
Lucy Jane Whitesides McDaniel
LAKE LURE, NC — Mrs. Lucy Jane Whitesides McDaniel, age 85, of McDaniel Road, Lake Lure, NC, passed away Tuesday, October 29, 2013, at her home. 
A native of Rutherford County, she was the daughter of Edgar and Ocie Frady Whitesides, a member of Bills Creek Baptist Church and the widow of Donald Gordon McDaniel, Jr.
Left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Betty Keller of Morganton and Nancy Baker of Asheville; four grandchildren, Pam Arrowood, Chris Arrowood, Jerry Baker and Lynn Downing; five great grandchildren, Michael Lail, Patience Arrowood, Christopher Arrowood, Adam Lawing and Megan Lawing; one sister, Margaret Vess of Asheville, NC. 
In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by her brother Weldon Whitesides.
A celebration of her life will be held 3 p.m., Sunday, November 3, 2013, at Bills Creek Baptist Church with Rev. Terrell Dillingham and Rev. Claude McIntosh officiating. The family will receive friends from 2 to 3 p.m., at the church prior to the funeral services. Concluding services will be held in the church cemetery following the funeral.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Bills Creek Baptist Church Building Fund, 1475 Bills Creek Road, Lake Lure, NC 28746.

Don Smith
SHELBY — Donald “Don” Eugene Smith, age 82, died Thursday, October 31, 2013, at Kings Mountain Hospice House. 
Born on January 8, 1931, in Jefferson County Illinois, he was the son of the late Glen Dare and Lula Tate Smith. He served four years in the Air Force, received his B. S. from Clemson University and his E.D.S. from Appalachian State University. He was a retired education administrator at Cleveland Community College. He was an active member of First Baptist Church in Shelby. He served as a deacon and was a member of the Bost Sunday School Class. He enjoyed playing golf and spending time with his family. 
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by two brothers, Charles Smith and Irvin Smith. 
Don is survived by his wife, Sue Winchester Smith; a son, Stephen Eugene Smith and wife, Jeannie of Forest City; a daughter, Suzanne Smith Ragin and husband, Jay of Clinton SC; a brother, J. Delbert Smith and wife, Nancy of Woodlawn Il; and four grandchildren, Anna Ragin, Luke Ragin, Alex Tillman, and Katie Tillman. 
Celebration of life will be held on Monday, November 4, 2013, at 11 a.m. at First Baptist Church in Shelby with Rev. Tony Tench officiating. The family will receive friends following the service in the sanctuary. A private burial will be held at Cleveland Memorial Park.
The family request no flowers, but that memorials be made to First Baptist Church, 120 North Lafayette Street, Shelby, NC 28150 or Hospice Cleveland County, 951 Wendover Heights Drive, Shelby, NC 28150.
