Sondra Sisk Holt
BOSTIC — Sondra Sisk Holt, age 54, died Saturday, October 26, 2013. Funeral services will be conducted at 3 p.m. on Wednesday, at the Harrelson Funeral Chapel. Interment will follow in Spindale Fellowship Holiness Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service time at the funeral home. Memorial donations are suggested to Hospice of Rutherford County, PO Box 336, Forest City, NC  28043. Harrelson Funeral and Cremation Services is serving the family.
 
Keith Starnes
FOREST CITY — Keith Starnes, 61, died on October 27, 2013. Arrangements are incomplete and will be announced later by McMahan’s Funeral Home and Cremation Services.

FOREST CITY — Delta Logan, age 64, died Friday, October 25, 2013. The funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. at True Vine Pentecostal Church. The body will lie in state one our prior to the service. Thompson's Mortuary, Inc. is in charge of the arrangements.
 
Doris Hunnicutt "Dot" Burgin
FOREST CITY, NC — Doris Hunnicutt "Dot" Burgin, age 83, of Forest City, North Carolina, died Tuesday, October 22, 2013, at her residence.  
She was born February 25, 1930, in Rutherford County and was a daughter of the late Louvenia Hunnicutt Crotts and step-daughter of the late Porter Crotts. Dot was a graduate of Isothermal Community College Nursing Program and worked for many years as an allergy nurse for Dr. Austin Hyde at the Norris-Biggs Clinic. She was a faithful member of First Wesleyan Church of Forest City where she was chairperson of the Church Decoration Committee and was secretary-treasurer for the local P.O.W. Chapter in Rutherford/Cleveland County.  
She was preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, Fred Burgin, Sr. who died in 2008.
Survivors include her children, Fred Burgin, Jr. and his wife Mary of Rutherfordton, Kelly Burgin and his wife Jennifer of Arden, NC, and Myra Burgin Epps and her husband Kim of Sumter, SC. There are also six grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be held at eleven o'clock Friday, November 1, 2013, in the First Wesleyan Church with Reverend Eric Yelton officiating. Interment will follow in the Eternal Hills Memorial Park. Visitation will be at the church on Friday from ten until eleven prior to the service.

Bruce Thomas Conner
ASHEVILLE — Bruce Thomas Conner, 69, of Asheville, passed away Monday, October 21, 2013, at Mission, St Joseph Hospital after a 20-month battle with cancer. 
He was a graduate of Rutherford-Spindale High School. He joined the Air Force in 1962 and spent 9 years in the service before taking a civil-service job at the Pentagon as a high level arbitrator for the Armed Forces. He retired at age 50 after 32½ years of civil and military service. 
He is survived by his loving wife of 14 years, Michelle Conner; step children, Jason Wilt (Chrissy) and Ryan Wilt (Karla); four grandchildren; brother, Bob Conner of Asheville and his children, Barry and Brianna Conner; and niece, Debbie Turner of Rutherfordton.

Jack Hughes
John William “Jack” Hughes, 70, of Rutherfordton, died Saturday October 26, 2013, at Charles George VA Center. 
A native of Newburgh, NY, he was the son of the late Charles Hughes and Frances Hawes Wilcutt. He was a veteran of the US Marines, owner of Jack Hughes Heating and Cooling in Grand Haven, MI and Ticonderoga, NY, and a member of Second Baptist Church. Jack ran My Brother’s Keeper Food Pantry for six years and made many walking sticks for fellow military veterans. He was an active member of the NC Baptist Men’s Disaster Relief team working in Mississippi after Katrina. Jack also served in recovery and rebuilding after Hurricane Sandy.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Judith Fisher Hughes of the home; two daughters, Beth Miller and husband Jonathan of Greer, SC, Sharon Smith and husband Cliff of Due West, SC; two sons, John Daniel Hughes and wife Brenda of Easley, SC, Donald William Hughes and wife Shellie of Colorado Springs, CO; seven grandsons; four granddaughters, and one great granddaughter.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m., Thursday, October 31, 2013, at Second Baptist Church with Dr. Keith Stephenson officiating. Interment will follow at 2 p.m. at the Black Mountain Veteran’s Cemetery with military honors accorded by the Rutherford County Honor Guard. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.

Sondra Sisk Holt
Sondra Sisk Holt, age 54, of Bostic, NC, died Saturday, October 26, 2013, at the Hospice House of Rutherford County.
Born February 26, 1959, in Rutherford County, NC, she was the daughter of the late Charles Fletcher Sisk and Minnie Bell Norville Sisk. She was a homemaker and attended Spindale Fellowship Holiness Church. Sondra was talented at drawing pencil and charcoal art and enjoyed craftwork and growing flowers.
Survivors include her husband of 30 years, Clarence Holt, Jr.; three sons, James Coffey and wife, Tara of Bostic, Clarence Holt III of Spindale and Tyler Holt of Forest City; three brothers, Mike Sisk of the Shiloh Community, Jerry Sisk and wife, Tina of Bostic and Greg Sisk also of Bostic. She is also survived by nine grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 30, 2013, at the Harrelson Funeral Chapel. Interment will follow in Spindale Fellowship Holiness Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service time at the funeral home.

Betty Roddy Jackson Estes
JAMESTOWN – Betty Roddy Jackson Estes, 74, of Jamestown, NC, passed away Sunday evening, October 27, 2013, in High Point Regional Hospital, High Point, NC.
Born in Rutherford County, NC, she was the daughter of the late Oscar and Mattie Pack Roddy. Mrs. Estes moved to Jamestown in 1991. She was a member of Cross of Calvary Baptist Church, Trinity, NC.
Surviving is her husband of 20 years, Rev. Arthur Estes; two sons, Edward Jackson (Crystal) of Green Creek, NC and John Jackson of Jamestown, NC; two daughters, Ann Kuykendall (Thurman) of Tryon, NC and Barbara Miller (James) of Campobello, SC; two step-sons, Steve Estes (Kim) of Griffin, GA and Charles Estes (Amy) of Thomasville, NC; two brothers, James Roddy of Shiloh, NC and Curtis Roddy (Frances) of Harris, NC. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by one brother, Kenneth Roddy and one sister, Edith McEntire.
A funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday, October 30, 2013, in the McFarland Funeral Chapel with Rev. Don Collins officiating. Burial will be in the Green River Baptist Church cemetery, 2880 Ken Miller Road, Rutherfordton. NC. The family will receive friends prior to the service Wednesday from 2 p.m. to 2:45 p.m. in the McFarland Funeral Chapel. At other times, the family will be at their respective homes.

Glenette Henson Ruppe
Glenette Henson Ruppe, age 66, of Rutherfordton, NC, died Sunday, October 27, 2013, at her home.
She was the daughter of the late Nathan Henson and the late Beth Sane Henson. She was a native of Rutherford County. Glenette was the widow of the late Larry Nash Ruppe and a member of Shiloh Baptist Church. She was retired from the Rutherford County School System. She was preceded in death by a brother Lowell Henson.
She is  survived by one daughter, Holly Ruppe Owen of Rutherfordton, NC; one son, Joshua Hudson Ruppe and his wife Jennifer of Rutherfordton, NC; two grandchildren, Caroline and Lauren Ruppe; two sisters, Rachel Davis, Forest City, NC and Faye Carter, Asheville, NC.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, October 29, 2013, at McMahan's Funeral Home. The funeral service will be at Shiloh Baptist Church at 11 a.m., Wednesday, October 30, 2013, with Rev. Don Crawford and Rev. Michael Sepaugh officiating. Interment will be at Shiloh
Baptist Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Shiloh Baptist Church, Larry Ruppe Memorial Fund, 1850 Poors Ford Road, Rutherfordton, N C 28139.
