Angelo "Poncho" Nunez
Angelo "Poncho" Nunez, 80, of Rutherfordton died Tuesday, January 22, 2013, at the Hospice House of Rutherford County. 
He was born in Puerto Rico and was the son of the late Juan and Amilia Nunez. Poncho had retired from AGI Industries and was the widower of Rose Bailey Nunez.  
He is survived by three daughters, Rebecca Rodriguez and husband, Gabriel of Gilkey, Ruby Alamilla and husband, Sam of  Union Mills and Rosie Conner and husband, Armando Lopez of Gilkey; two sons, Raymond Nunez and wife, Crystal of Ellenboro and Jerry Bailey of Shelby; 11 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m., Thursday, January 24, 2013, at McMahan's Funeral Home. The funeral service will be at McMahan's Funeral Home Chapel at 2 p.m., Friday, January 25, 2013, with the Rev. Leon Brown officiating. Burial will be at Eternal Hills Memorial Park,
Forest City.

James “Cliff” Ivey 
James “Cliff” Ivey, age 64, of Forest City, NC, died Tuesday, January 22, 2013, at the Charles George VA Hospital.
Cliff was born February 11, 1948, in Camp Lejeune, NC to the late Alonzo Alton Ivey and Norma Elizabeth Bain Ivey. He served his country during the Vietnam War and was a veteran of the US Army. During one of his two tours in Vietnam he was awarded the Purple Heart. He worked in the Norfolk Shipyard and also worked for the US Postal Service as a mail carrier in Portsmouth, Virginia. He was a member of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church. Cliff was known as a man who loved his family dearly and was a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather, uncle and friend.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Stephan Ivey; two sisters, Barbara Schaefer and Shirley Ebert.
Survivors include his loving wife of 42 years, Minnie Ivey; two daughters, Celena Moore and husband, Chris of Ellenboro and Melissa Harris and husband, Emanuel of Forest City; two sons, Alonzo Alton Ivey and wife, Connie of Tucson, Arizona and Clifton Allen Ivey of Forest City. He is also survived by two sisters, Elizabeth Pletts and husband, Andrew and Susan Eddins, all of Forest City and 13 grandchildren. 
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Friday, January 25, 2013, at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church with Reverend Bob Philbeck officiating. Military honors will be accorded by the Rutherford County Honor Guard at the church. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home.

Cindy M. Carlton
Cindy Melton Carlton, age 55, of Forest City, died Tuesday, January 22, 2013, at her home. 
A native of Meridian, MS, Cindy was the daughter of William H. and Peggy Sanders Melton. She was a homemaker and a member of Florence Baptist Church.
Left to cherish her memory, in addition to her parents is her husband, Allen Carlton of the home; daughter, Avery Carlton of the home; brother, Michael Melton of Meridian, MS; and sister, Lynn Hasson of Asheville.
A celebration of life will be held 2 p.m. Thursday, January 24, at Crowe’s Mortuary with Dr. Bobby Gantt and  Greg Park officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:30 until 2 p.m.

Joann Hawkins Hollifield 
Joann Hawkins Hollifield, age 65, of Trojan Lane, Forest City, NC, died Sunday, January 20, 2013, at her residence.
Joann was born August 4, 1947, in Rutherford County, NC, to the late Paul T. Hawkins and Madelyne “Matt” Scruggs Hawkins who resides in Forest City. Joann was a graduate of Chase High School, class of 1965 and a member of Sandy Mush Baptist Church. She was a homemaker who enjoyed shopping, helping others and spending time with her grandchildren. She also attended Caroleen Baptist Church.
In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her husband of forty-four years, Steve Hollifield; sister in-law, Agnes Hawkins and one infant great grandson, Andre Moore, Jr.
Besides her mother, she is survived by, one son, Brian Hollifield and wife, Betty; one daughter, Stephenie Hollifield all of Caroleen; two brothers, Jimmy Hawkins and Tim Hawkins and wife, Kim also of Caroleen; five grandchildren, Tiffanie Spears, Tyler Spears, Brent Hollifield, Kelsey Hollifield, Rodney Deal; two great-grandchildren, Kadyn Spears, Keyanah Spears and a number of  nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Thursday, January 24, 2013, at Rutherford County Memorial Cemetery with Rev. Lanny J. Funchess officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at the graveside. The body will lay in state at the funeral home during business hours on Wednesday and up to noon on Thursday.
