Georgia Phillips
FOREST CITY - Georgia Burleson Phillips, age 85, died Wednesday, January 16, 2013. Funeral services will be conducted at noon on Saturday, at the Harriett Memorial Free Will Baptist Church. Interment will follow in Rutherford County Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service time at the church. Memorial donations are suggested to Harriett Memorial Free Will Baptist Church, 1938 US Highway 221A, Forest City, NC  28043. Harrelson Funeral and Cremation Services is caring for the family of Mrs. Phillips.
 
Michael Teague
FOREST CITY — Michael Howard Teague, age 60, died Wednesday, January 16, 2013. Funeral arrangements are incomplete and will be announced later by The Padgett and King Mortuary. 
 
Margaret Mozelle Guffey Bailey
Mrs. Margaret Mozelle Guffey Bailey, age 84, of Poors Ford Road, Rutherfordton, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, January 15, 2013, while at Hospice House Of Forest City.
She was a daughter of the late Mingus and Eva Rollins Guffey, a member of Adaville Baptist Church and was retired from Tanner Companies.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by two children Douglas Grant Bailey and Diane Bailey Conner.
Left to cherish her memory are her husband of 66 years, Hubert Bailey; one son, Wayne Bailey of Rutherfordton; one sister, Hazel Searcy and husband, Boyd of Pleasant Garden; two grandchildren; and two great grandchildren.
A celebration of life will be held 2 p.m., Friday, January 18, 2013, at Adaville Baptist Church with Rev. Cal Sayles and Rev. A.A. Bailey officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Rutherford County Hospice, P.O. Box 336, Forest City, NC 28043 or to Adaville Baptist Church General Fund, 805 Oakland Road, Spindale NC 28160.

Nell Deane Scruggs
CLIFFSIDE - Long time Cliffside resident, Nell Deane Jenkins Scruggs, retired cosmetologist and business owner, died on Monday, January 14, 2013, at SECU Hospice House of Rutherford County, at age 83, after a long illness.
Mrs. Scruggs was the widow of Harry C. Scruggs of Cliffside and is survived by her sons, Eric Scruggs, Kelly Scruggs, and Scott Scruggs and wife, Meg. She will be remembered fondly by the community for the pride she took in her family and her work. Her good cheer and sense of humor will be missed by all who knew her.
Visitation will be held from 12 until 2 p.m. on Saturday, January 19, 2013, at McKinney-Landreth & Carroll Funeral and Cremation Service. Afterward, a graveside service will be held at Mount Pleasant Baptist Church in Cleveland County.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to SECU Hospice House of Rutherford County, PO Box 336, Forest City, NC 28043.

Rubye Cole Cobb
Rubye Cole Cobb, age 100, of Rutherfordton, NC, died Tuesday, January 15, 2013, at Hospice House of Rutherford County.
She was the daughter of the late Alfred Cole and Edna Morgan Cole. She was a native of Preston, Georgia. Rubye was the oldest member of First Baptist Church of Rutherfordton and a member of the Joy Group at church. She was preceded in
death by a son, Walter Cobb and two sisters, Virginia Brown and Nita Kiser.
She is survived by her grandchildren, Terry Cobb and his wife, Donna of Rutherfordton, Connie Morris and her husband, Eddie of Rutherfordton, and Joy Anderson and her husband, Carl of Michigan; seven other grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren; 14 great-great grandchildren; and her special friend and caregiver, Dot Carnegie.
Funeral service will be at First Baptist Church of Rutherfordton at 1 p.m., Friday, January 18, 2013 with Rev. Tim Marsh
and Rev. Dean Baughn officiating. The family will receive friends from 12 until 1 p.m., Friday, at First Baptist Church prior to the service. Interment will be at Calvary Baptist Church Cemetery.
