Mary Ann Brown
Mary Ann Brown, age 72 of Palms Way, Forest City, North Carolina died Sunday, December 30, 2012 at Rutherford Regional Medical Center. She was born September 16, 1940 in Polk County, Iowa and was a daughter of the late Norman and Velma Stemler Miller. Mary was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and a great-grandmother as well as a gifted homemaker. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Forest City, a member of the Gate Sunday School Class as well as the More-or-Less Circle. Mary was preceded in death by an infant sister, Marilyn Miller and a brother, Bob Miller.
She is survived by her husband of fifty-two years, David A. Brown of the home, three sons, Bradley Brown of Rutherfordton, Michael Brown of Saluda, South Carolina, and Matthew Brown and wife Christy of Rutherfordton, a daughter, Robyn Brown of Forest City, and two sisters, Jean Mauch and husband Kendall of Bondurant, Iowa and Janice Higginbottom and husband Arthur of Bluffton, Indiana. There are also seven grandchildren, Micalea Brown, MacKenzie Brown, Tyler Brown, Abram Brown, Daniel Brown, Renee Hargett and Jennifer Rondeau as well as five great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at eleven o'clock Thursday, January 3, 2013 in the First United Methodist Church with Reverend Neil Haynes and Reverend Wesley Judy officiating. Members of the Gate Sunday School Class will serve as honorary escort. Interment will follow in the Cool Springs Cemetery. Visitation will be from six until eight o'clock Wednesday evening at The Padgett and King Mortuary. Thomas Grover Ledford, 46, of 404 Moriah School Rd., Casar, passed away Sunday, December 30, 2012 at his home.
Born March 8, 1966 in Cleveland County, he was a son of Elowise Smith Ledford and the late William Floyd Ledford. Thomas was employed by Abercrombie and served in the US Army during Panama.
In addition to his mother, Thomas is survived by his long-time girlfriend, Kriston Hamrick; daughter, Ashley Renee Noonan of Portsmouth, VA; four step-sons, James Pursley and Thomas Pursley both of Forest City and Aaron and Timothy Hamrick both of Casar; two step-grandchildren, William and Alexander Pursley; two brothers, John Ledford of Spindale and Samuel Ledford
of Polkville; and grandmother, Margaret Smith of Casar.
The family will receive friends 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, Wednesday at Stamey Funeral Home, Fallston. Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM, Thursday at New Home United Methodist Church. The body will be placed in the church thirty minutes before the service. Rev. David Minor will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery

Christy William “Chris” Wilson
Christy William “Chris” Wilson, age 46, of Forest City, NC, passed away Sunday, December 30, 2012 at Rutherford Regional Medical Center. A native of Rutherford County he was a son of the late Buddy William Wilson and Etta Jean Philbeck Wilson.
Left to cherish his memory are one sister, Marla Howard of Forest City, NC; one brother, Terry Earley of Rocky Mount, NC and a number of other friends and family members.
A celebration of life will be held 6 PM Wednesday, January 2, 2013 at Crowe’s Funeral Chapel with Rev. Bob Philbeck officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.

Dorothy Rogers Crawford
Dorothy Rogers Crawford, 87, of Rutherfordton died on Sunday, December 30,
2012, at Rutherford Regional Medical Center. A native of Rutherford County she was the daughter of the late W.W. and Annie Splawn Rogers. Dorothy was a member of Southern Baptist Church for over 40 years and had retired from the N.C. Agricultural Extension as a Nutrition Aide.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Wellford Rogers and a sister, Grace Barnett.
She is survived by her husband, Rev. L. Paul Crawford of Rutherfordton; two daughters,
Sharon Willis of Rutherfordton and Sarah Lee and husband, Jackie of Bostic, NC; one son, Roger Crawford and wife, Carolyn of Durham, NC; grandsons, Rodney Willis, Paul Willis, John Willis, Jason Lee, James Lee and Jonathan Lee; great-grandchildren, Drake Willis, Jacob Willis, Savannah Willis and Jeremy Anderson and one brother, Ernest K. Rogers of Rutherfordton.
The family will receive friends from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM, Wednesday, January 2, 2013 at Southern Baptist Church in Rutherfordton. The funeral service will follow in the church at 1:00 PM with Rev. John Perry officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Katherine Lorraine Lancaster
Katherine Lorraine Lancaster, 83, a resident of Abingdon Place Assisted Living, Gastonia, went to be with Jesus December 30, 2012.
Katherine was born in Rutherford County to the late Benny and Gladys Barnes.
She lived in Polk County until she moved to Abingdon Place in 2008. She worked many years in textile management in Gaston, Rutherford and Polk counties. She was an active member of Coopers Gap Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Zeno Lancaster and her sisters, Frances Gibbons, Maxine Groves and Laura Rhyne.
Survivors include her daughters, Linda and husband, Grady Hoyle of Belmont, Wanda and husband, Mike Starnes of Gastonia, Pam and husband, Rodney Bumgardner of Boone, and her son, Zeno Lancaster III of Lake Wylie.
She is also survived by her brothers and sisters, Hilda and Harold Crawford of Charlotte, Frank and Maureen Barnes of Alabama, and Helen Clements of Belmont; ten grandchildren and seventeen great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. Monday, December 31 at the home of her granddaughter Jill, 204 Michelle Lane, Mount Holly, and also from 1 to 2 p.m. on Tuesday, January 1, 2013 prior to the service at Coopers Gap Baptist Church.
The service to remember Katherine will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, January 1, 2013 at Coopers Gap Baptist Church.

James Eddie Hill
James Eddie Hill, 59, of NC Highway 120, Cliffside, died on Sunday, December 30, 2012.
